At about 1:15 today the “Back the Blue” procession left HJ Carroll Park in Port Hadlock, Washington and proceeded to Port Townsend. Hundreds of cars festooned with American flags and blue tape on cars entered the “Belly of the Beast”, downtown Water Street in PT.
For those who don’t know, PT is a deep blue city, in a blue county in blue state Washington. Bernie signs everywhere.
We got lots of waves and honks in support even in downtown. We also got calls of “Black Lives Matter”, and curses.
At about 2:05, hippies on foot made their way into the crosswalk in front of my car. I stopped, and they stopped as well. I inched forward, and they moved away. As I entered the crosswalk, a woman struck my car hood and trunk and cursed.
I had my portable radio on to the county dispatch. They reported that about 2:30 persons blocked Water Street at Tyler by laying down in the road. As of about 3:00, they were directing traffic around the blockage.
Fortunately no violence like in Portland.

A couple weeks ago I was going through the junk in my closet and I found the box of 4×6 prints from when I was taking motorcycle trips. Rapid City South Dakota, ’92, 0r ’93. I was there for the Sturgis Rally. Met Peter Fonda in the bar at the Rapid City convention Center, and chatted for a while. He seemed like a nice guy, really down to earth. Unbeknownst to me, while I was in the rest room, one the guys I was with got PF to pose for a pic sitting on my Harley. I found the pic my pal sent me, and showed it to my wife before I put all that stuff away.
It used to be a cool souvenir of some very fun times.
Now it’s just a shot of an ass on a hog.

That list of companies is pretty disturbing….. but I think I’d like to see how that list was compiled – and the numbers that go with it.

Ghost’s buyin’ stuff comment: Occurs to me not a lot of my money goes to corporations. It’s been well over 50 years since I’ve bought a new car or truck, my pickup and last two Jeeps were second hand, for example. If a book title catches my attention, the first place I look for it is Abesbooks, used books on line where I usually find what I want. A lot of the woodwork I do is with roughcut lumber from the local saw mill. The heating oil in my tank came from the local topping plant, sidetracked from the pipeline carrying crude from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. Of course some of that money spent on oil ends up in corporate coffers but the value added ends up in local pockets.
Haven’t calculated it but I suspect most of my bucks ending up in woke corporations is spent for foodstuffs, I’ve no interest in buying second hand steaks. I did pick up two bottles of Aunt Jemima syrup at Safeway the other day to help Quaker Oats, “As we work to make progress toward racial equality through several initiatives, we also must take a hard look at our portfolio of brands and ensure they reflect our values and meet our consumers’ expectations.”, dispose of that giant raciest stereotype. 😉
