    Hello, friends,
Just checking in….nothing special to say, except that the grandkids will be here this weekend (Yay!!), and an early Happy Fourth of July to everyone. We normally celebrate our Fourth with a pre-breakfast water balloon fight, which I believe we’re going to hold on Monday morning (the ‘grands can’t be here on Wednesday–swim meets and such). Be careful with your fireworks.

As Joe Krill reminds us that we shouldn’t have dropped that Latin class, azlibertarian reminds us that people we’ve never met in person are bound in spirit.

I also Baroque my best pair of binoculars.

    Have a great 4th holiday!

Best smile of the day for me. Mark Levin:

“NOTE TO JOE BIDEN: YOU WERE A SENATOR FOR 36 YEARS. IF YOU WANT TO SPEND UP TO $1 TRILLION IN STUDENT LOAN WELFARE, YOU NEED WHAT’S CALLED LEGISLATION FROM CONGRESS. THEY SEND A BILL TO YOUR DESK, AND THEN YOU SIGN IT. YOU DON’T JUST SIGN YOUR OWN FIAT, SPRINKLE PIXIE DUST ON THE DOCUMENT, AND DECLARE $1 TRILLION SPENT. WE CONSERVATIVES, CONSTITUTIONALISTS, MAGA REPUBLICANS, OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL US, BELIEVE YOU SHOULD FOLLOW THE LAW AND THE CONSTITUTION. YOU’RE NOT A DICTATOR. YOU’RE A MENTAL PATIENT HOUSED IN THE WRONG FEDERAL FACILITY” tweeted Levin.

And France is burning. The French have had enough of their Commie dot gov. A re-do of their last revolution? All hidden by Commie controlled USA media of course.

“Once you let the barbarians inside the gates, you really shouldn’t be too surprised when they rape, burn, and sack the cities. That’s what they do. That’s how they live.”

Hope y’all are doing well, and prospering despite the BS.
Best thing happening here has been seeing my project, The Lost Era Transcripts on line at Arkhaven Comics.

In a little over two weeks I’ve had ~5000 views. I’m working on producing the slide show movie, creating soundtracks, and including audio clips. Got a good recording device, but holy cow what a PIA to learn how to use. I should have taken up learning to play the sitar. Acres and tons of new shit to learn! I’ll be hanging some of Pete Hampton’s work at the Whittier Museum tomorrow for a special exhibit on the Whittier Hills. In the mean time I’m trying to sneak in a little work on the stones. No time for bikes, bud, or bullshit right now. That’s a good thing.

    Tornados
    2 day power outage
    Rain for the next unknown

    Joe is speaking in tongues
AZ reveals the frivolous nature we all hold, specially when it comes to grand kids.
Haven’t seen ours in almost 4 years, they’re whole different people now.
Casey’s up to his same silly self. That’s good!
Terry sticks our collective feets right back into the fire – he’s a sadist.
John is into full power mode and that’s a good place to be.
I’m watching, reading, working, prepping, shooting TF out of a bunch of guns, trying to blow valves in my amps, with purty pieces of woods and tightly stretched wires, and recently indian leg wrestling the various self imposed dictators over the legalities of building a new chiropractors office.

An hour of the latter requires me to spend 2 hours in the former.
I’m old (68) so by natural law I get to make the rules as I see fit and ignore stuff when I want.

As always, at 6pm Tues eve I’m going to light up the 348 as my personal tribute.
“What is a 348?”, you ask?

It’s a beast, and a costly one at that!

I’ve been traveling for much of June. Went on a week-long backpack through the mountains. There was a bridge across a river in flood, the snowmelt was great this year. Under the bridge were nesting hundreds of swallows. At sunrise and sunset there was a great flurry of swallow comings and goings. It was great fun to watch the swallows dart about catching insects on the wing, they are so fast and agile. The river glowed with the soft orange light of sunset mixed with the sky turning from blue to white to black, with swallows skittering about as far as I could see. I marveled at how they were able to catch all these tiny insects that I couldn’t see, flies and skeeters, above the river and the surrounding banks, and have it be enough food for themselves and their chicks. There wasn’t a problem with bugs for us at that campsite.

Such a sight I had never seen before. I don’t really notice birds much. Around my house we have crows and owls and lgb’s. I pay attention to the aloof pelicans. I can recognize the call of the canyon wren and mourning doves in the southwest deserts. That’s about it.

I then went on a business trip, pulled up to the hotel, and what did I see? Hundreds of swallows in their mud nests under the north-side roof overhang, flying about catching all the city bugs. I think I am glad I didn’t get a north-side room, as the windows were all spattered with bird poo, as also were the cars below. But it might have been interesting to once again watch their aerial gymnastics and hear their chirping and rustling. One of my colleagues asked the hotel about this, and they said that the birds are protected during this nesting time of year. Later on they will dismantle the mud nests and wash off the poo. An unsightly mess and perhaps dangerous with all the germs in bird poo, but it would seem that swallows are our friends, keeping the loathsome bug populations under control.

Let that be a lesson to you commercial architects out there, don’t put on northside overhangs on multi-story building with siding that swallows can attach their mud nests to, or your clients will be annoyed with you.

There are a number of ways to deal with an influx of the aviary brand. Ever heard of a bottle brush?
A twisted wire with bristles imbedded 360 degrees around it? Make the wire and 8″ bristles stainless steel and only wrap them 180 degrees, then apply it to areas where birds are likely to light. Ta da, no more bird shitzski.

If you have nothing else to do today, I would appreciate your efforts to help me get this story into a range of somewhat accurate. Last week a tanker train carrying hot asphalt and some chemicals derailed into the Yellowstone River. Originally the local press reported two tank cars in the water and the rest of the cars still up on the bank of the river. We now have CNN/ABC reporting 10 cars IN the river. Here is one link to the story:

I need help getting “the real story”. If you have a minute, please search for better pictures telling the story and better news reporting. Thank you

    Dear Friends:
If you have a few minutes to spare would you please do me a favor? Last week a train carrying hot asphalt and chemicals derailed into the Yellowstone River. The first pictures and story reported that three cars (3) were actually in the river. Now of course CNN and NBC are reporting ten (10) cars in the river! I would like to get clarity on this story–just the facts please! If you have some time would you please search for better pictures and more stories from other sources. I think this story will be a classic explanation of the CNN/NBC style, but I need to make absolutely sure! Here is the story from ABC:

    Thank you!
