Here’s a photo Gerard took many years ago during a wintertime trip to Florida. Quite obviously, it was incredibly cold, and we were practically the only people walking around on the street that day.

About Gerard’s newer site

Here’s the link to Gerard’s newer site. Unlike with this original site, Gerard left no instructions for me. I’m also unfamiliar with the platform there, so I’ve been learning the ropes of navigating the back pages.

I’m fairly sure I’ll be canceling that site some time within the next two weeks because it costs money to maintain, and in the meantime I won’t be posting anything new there anyway. I believe that, when I cancel it, all the paid subscriptions will automatically stop. I sent the site an email asking whether that’s the case, and I have yet to hear from the people in charge.

But till then, I noticed these instructions:

Portal makes it easy for your members to manage their subscription directly from your publication. Once they’re logged in, members can edit their name and email address, change or cancel their plan, update credit card information, and control their newsletter subscriptions.

Sorry for the delay, but there have been a lot of tasks – sad tasks – connected with all of this.

Gerard’s obituary

Here’s the link to Gerard’s obituary.

It’s not particularly long, considering how much he did in his life. And of course, like most obituaries, it doesn’t really convey the person himself in all his complexity and energy and vitality. This blog has been much better at doing that.
