Casey axed: “Anyone else have wisdom on the bank crisis?”
    ===========
    Is wisdom learned experience?
I’ve been planning for this stuff for some time, the signals have been out there for years.
Right now I have about $1k in each of 2 checking accounts at diff banks which I use for online purchases. $400 is automatically put in each of those accounts monthly. If I have a choice (time) I will drain those accounts into FRN’s as fast as possible.

Everything else has been converted into FRN’s and silver.
Trying to get used to using cash for in person purchases.
Amazingly enough some places offer discounts for cash.
Yesterday at NAPA I paid $210 cash for 2 new brake rotors and 2 sets of pads for my Blazer and they gave me 5% off for cash.

It’s only a matter of time that we will be going back to the lifestyle of the 18th century.
People need to get their heads around that idea.
    Or not.

For Joe Krill: Don’t buy metals that are intrinsically valueless, buy silver.
Yes, it costs a lot more but it is real not Memorex and real is what you’ll need soon.
Also, consider getting an assayer kit and learning it and practicing it, you could get ahead of the local game. Remember, the banker makes the rules.
($300 worth of todays quarters have less than $10 worth of metal value.)

My well used connection, long term use, no problems, competitive value.

    • Joe Krill March 15, 2023, 9:11 AM

Ghostsniper, I understand and agree to a point. Personally I feel it is wise to have both. The point being, a one dollar silver piece has a value of more than one dollar. Much more. When the shtf and you need a loaf of bread or whatever and you hand the clerk a silver dollar, in all probability they will not be able to give you change. Also, it is wise to have “sealed” 40-50 pound buckets of popcorn, wheat, beans and oats. Never open these containers until you go to use them. They have a great shelf life if stored properly and unopened. Bleach, candles, a rocket stove or two, proper clothing and soaps are some other things to have. Have books on which wild plants you can eat and which ones to avoid. I could go on and on but if and when it happens a lot of our loved ones will be relying on us for advice and help and a lot of evil ones will be doing everything in their power to steal it.

      • ghostsniper March 15, 2023, 10:44 AM

Joe, a silver dime is worth roughly $3.
A decent loaf of bread is about $3.
I have more dimes than the other denominations.
        I’m a cheap date.

    • Casey Klahn March 15, 2023, 10:18 AM

NAPA will also give you a discount for being a veteran.

Money is one thing, but things have value. Real estate, art, guhns, food, land. Family and community networks.

      • ghostsniper March 15, 2023, 10:49 AM

        Now ya tell me!
(they should have a sign at the door saying that)

Silver was my last “investment” for our future, after I made sure all other areas had been procured.
I didn’t know anyone with silver experience so I was very hesitant to get involved. After I made the first purchase without a hitch I started making regular monthly purchases. Silver is heavy. JMBullion offers free shipping on (I think) $200 or $300 orders.

Well, I could always do an Antisemitism 🙂

Seriously, it’s in the nature of Things as well as folks to, well, Pass. Some of the commenters here are a good fit for Neo’s, Ace of Grillers’, InstaGateKeeper’s, etc. worldview.., others will find more to their liking at the Z Man, or Severian, or BAP. The Academic Agent is also worth looking into for those who have time to listen to longer discussions.

The best service to the spirit of Gerard’s last 20 years would be to link to his posts where relevant at other sites and perhaps influence the thinking of a few readers who might not otherwise have encountered his writings. Making allowances for a proper sense of perspective and the ten thousand foot view of where we stand now and where we’re all headed, that’s more than most of us could ever achieve and almost good as one’s Name in some Stone.

We watched the movie (streamed) a couple years ago.
          Wrenching.

  • neo March 16, 2023, 2:17 PM

    ghostsniper:
Yes, indeed. It’s the way it goes, I guess, without new content being written. People drift away.

Thing is, it will be a couple of months before I get the books out. I hope enough people will stick around to get the news.

    • John A. Fleming March 16, 2023, 3:17 PM

Every night I come here and think “do I have anything to say?” Most nights, no. Gerard occasionally put out that saying by Fulghum “Instructions for Wayfarers“. I see having something to say as a destination, but speech on the internet is usually documenting a journey.

One thing Gerard did was to very occasionally promote a reader comment to the front page. For me, that kept me going, trying to find the magic, trying to lure my Muse back that I might have something worthwhile to talk about in an interesting way.

  • Trooper John Smith March 16, 2023, 2:45 PM

I still check daily. Habits, I guess. Thanks, Neo, for curating. On another note, I just found the Doug Sahm, Leon Russell, Grateful Dead Thanksgiving jam at the Armadillo World Headquartes in ’72 on yootoob. Wow.

  • John A. Fleming March 16, 2023, 2:59 PM

Some internet lady name of Naomi Wolf recently penned an apology about how she allowed herself to be misled about that whole January 6th business, and she admitted that the maga folks were right and her folks were liars. Something like that.

I would have liked to have seen Mr. G. rip her a new one about that. I can just imagine. He was a pretty strong Trump supporter, and having been steeped in the East Coast literati for so many years, he knew where all the bodies were buried regarding their pretensions, sanctimonies fears, hypocrisies, and their virtue signaling pathways. The best we got was Aesop.

I still remain amazed that Mr. G was able to escape the clutches of the proggro marxists that infest the literary world. He even grew up in California, was a child of the 60’s, and attended Berzerkely, lived all those years in NY. He very well must have been one of those guys for whom “What a long strange trip it’s been” fits their life.

  • julie March 16, 2023, 3:37 PM

I still pop by from time to time, but usually don’t have much to say.

That said, what’s a good resource for news on military action? Just curious, we live near a couple of mostly-cargo airports, but there have been several military jets in the area the past couple of days. Wondering if it’s just training-type stuff, or if Things are Going On.

  • Anne March 16, 2023, 5:06 PM

I just asked the same question about two weeks ago. Someone here quickly produced the website for a guy who runs a blog following military aircraft. I however have traveled twice since then and have lost the link. Perhaps he will come forward again. Otherwise, you can scroll back through the comments to sometime about mid February and see where he posted it. If you do find it please re-post.

    • Terry March 16, 2023, 10:30 PM

Anne, the link below is from Lenora Thompson’s husband.

      https://globe.adsbexchange.com/

He watches aircraft. Lenora has a great website. I do not have the site address handy.

    • Joe Krill March 16, 2023, 8:16 PM

      Ghostsniper, Ditto. Ditto.

    • John A. Fleming March 16, 2023, 10:24 PM

Sometimes the comments are delayed, it happened to me a couple of times. I think there might be a filter that if you comment too much on a particular article, it gets held up and maybe released later. Mr. G said once he read every comment made, so maybe if something got filtered, it has to be promoted manually. Don’t panic, wait a day.

  • John A. Fleming March 17, 2023, 12:58 AM

I’ve been noodling for several days about something I read, where it was said that the proggros do all they do, say all they say, and the reaction of their opponent is the point. To react to them is to validate their power. To not react to them is to validate their power by ceding the public space and the idea space.

A person can withdraw, but that only works for a while, the proggros in their endless fervor to create the future they are convinced is correct do not tolerate any counters.

If a person desires to be left alone to live his or her life as they see fit, the question remains, what is to be done. Havel’s The Power of the Powerless is one such proposal. But the citizens of the USA and our remnant liberties are in a much stronger position than the post-war Czechs. Is there a uniquely American way to recover our liberties?

An example. The cross-dressers scheduled a story time at the local library. The local Christian people mobilized, showed up early, occupied all the seats, refused to give them up to willing families with children. The dragsters, once they realized there were no children in attendance, closed up shop early. Fine, that battle won. Against these folks, any effective tactic only works once. Next time, the dragsters will use reserved seating for their VIPs, the children they prey upon. It’s very strange, using the language of war to describe interactions between Americans. Are they with us, or are they TWANLOCs?

A self-sufficient culture resistant to co-option must be created and sustained. Already, the territory of the big cities is being ceded and falling into perdition. Such perdition cannot be contained, as even those who create the chaos cannot take it and attempt to migrate to more civil environments where they can be free-riders in peace. In my local area, the beach used to be unpopulated at night, owned by the night owls and night-walkers with their solitary sojourning with the night airs, salt spray, star and moonlight, the soothing sounds of surf. These were moments of peace and liberty. The civil public space was kept so by the public authorities not allowing any camping or sleeping on the hard, and there were no accommodations for those folks. Well, the city has given up, and emplaced kibos at the beach. The motor homes staying all day and overnight have arrived, the tents have arrived, and the campers are “improving” their claimed spaces. The chaos is moving in.

One local city is brave enough. No camping, period. Either the person goes into rehab public assistance and stays on the wagon, or gets out of town, no exceptions. We’ll see how long they can keep that up.

Parallel spaces will be formed, one chaotic, one civil. The civil space will have to be created, sustained, defended. Certain churches can be kernels of expanding stability. There are other ways to find the like-minded, the remnant who desire to be left alone to live their lives as they see fit.

Who knew that the world of Snake Plisken is uncomfortably close to coming true?

    • ghostsniper March 17, 2023, 4:16 AM

I copied this from elsewhere, maybe it will be your neighborhood before too long:

The gangstalker network in my ao upped the anti this weekend.
also 2 new rural acclimation groups showed up, added to the 3 been here almost a year.
they all have Virginia accents, some still running Va. tags, the assholes did a tour for the newbies and stopped out on the road near the house, got out, did question and answer session, then a debrief on the tour, with a pep talk/welcome to the network at the end.

      been watching them earlier.
when they parked up I hoofed it around thru the woods, set up in a nice spot to listen and get pics.
pretty amazing what i listened to.
these are American’s, or rather amerikan’s.
the inherent hate and sense of destiny they are our rulers is always something to wrap the ol’ noodle around even when its first hand direct knowledge.

the last few weeks the gangstalkers who been regulars for months working our area stepped up their disruption activity.
sometimes dozens of vehicles with wide open pipes, going WOT by peoples homes, three nights in a row one truck dragging a carhauler they had laid 4×8 pieces of sheetmetal in, driving fast over these one lane rough dirt goat paths, with open pipes, amazingly loud, it wakes the dead at 2 am, along with highly aggressive cruising up and down what roads we have here, heaving large bags of trash out of fast moving vehicles so it produces a wide spread pattern as they bust open, staging fake tailgate parties across from folks homes all hours of the night, running nigger rap with the deep base boom boom dialed to the max, creating all sorts of noise, slamming vehicle doors and tail gates, bats and shovels banging pieces of sheetmetal, steel drums, tooting horns, etc.

it is pretty amazing watching them going at it.
you have to personally see it with your eyes to believe it, to understand there are adult grown looking people doing this stupid shit.
amazing there is so much reckless hate.

but knowing it really is real and this network exists, that its everywhere, behind all this crazy shit going on, is a great boon to coming to rational logical terms with it and not falling for the traps they are created for to fuck with us and fuck with our heads so we are easily destroyed.

we see it as techniques employed to stress out all us native good folks living here, disrupt order and peace, fuck with serenity of place and community, cause and create worry, fear and unsettling sense of loss of stability and security.

same head fucking the whole annteefah/blm gangstalker bullshit is for in the cities, same fear mongering, the same yellow media weaponizing everything.
      Weaponizing Fear.
Get people to take council from their fears, makes them suckers, easier to manipulate and control.

these gangstalkers operating around our area are so blatantly patently obvious.
none of them are from around here, belong here, have family or friends and nobody local knows who they are.
      they truly stick out.

our county is about 3/4 size of Rhode Island, with a tad over 2000 families living in it.
its about as rural east of the mississipi as can be found, we have only 4 Deputy Sheriff’s for the entire county, they have told us they are helpless to stop this, they bust the fuckers, within an hour they are walking out the front door giving them the finger and laughing.
they went to lengths to let many of us know, they know all of us as good people, how they never have to worry about us and have appreciated us for it, our decent way of life, going on to tell us, it’s time we must take care of things ourselves.

another aspect of raising the anti, right out of the marxist terrorist handbook, its right on cue in the politicization of everything, it getting near about time for the next stage of “protracted struggle.”

this change in strat-tac points to 2nd stage early phase two, (3 phases in each of the 3 stages), ie, increasing the aggressive physical activity, no targeting individuals for direct action, ( targeted kill hits), lots of ramped up disruptive and disturbing action all hours, typically during dark.

the intent at this stage, once these teams have acclimated to the rural conditions, this draws out the white supremacists reactionaries and other white “fascists”, providing further intell of the local inhabitants, and for constructing direct action targeting lists.

It is only a matter of timing these blacbloc operations would follow the handbook involving rural operations, they have to control the rural areas at some point, step up the rural direct action, now, as the metro and shit-holes are mostly under direct network control.

      neo-bolshevik direct action.
you can just see the obots directing this from on high.

The first direct action of these new rural acclimation groups once they settle in, going by the handbook, is job one, determining who are the “extremist white supremacists” in the community, in their strategy, rank as enemy number one on the targeting list, for further direct action operations, and determining the break down in patriarchal and agrarian order, associations, who attends which local parish, if any who is organized resistance and or gauging threat levels, natural community leaders, etc.

      • julie March 19, 2023, 10:54 AM

We have a crew of people in our vicinity – a quiet suburb flanked by a couple of big institutions. Most nights we get an almost constant run of cars and/or motorcycles circling the area making as much noise as they possibly can. You can hear them making a circuit. Plenty of cops in the area, but apparently this isn’t a crime even though it’s obvious from the sound that they are often
hitting ridiculous speeds through the neighborhoods. Haven’t noticed anything else particularly gang-stalkerish, but for most of the people around here that must be more than enough to cause serious stress issues.

  • jwm March 17, 2023, 7:05 AM

I’ve cut my internet time down quite a bit. I stop by here to see familiar names, and notes, but my tour through the bookmarks grows shorter every day. More and more, I’m simply tuning out. There is no need to list particulars. Thing is, there is damned little I can actually *DO* to stop any of the current insanity. After a look at the headlines you get the feeling like you want to grab a picket sign and go charging out on to Main Street, screaming “STOP THIS SHIT!”
And that’s about how much good it will do.
For years, now I’ve made the daily effort to keep myself reasonably well-informed. I’ve noticed that the crap keeps coming whether I pay attention to it or not. Effort has to be expended, not squandered. Soon as the sun’s up I’m gonna’ have some cereal, take a hike, and maybe get a little work done on the stone.

    JWM

    • Terry March 17, 2023, 7:50 AM

jwm, I understand your bewilderment. As long as our side has food and a roof over our individual heads, “they” are in control of our destiny. Our side is made up of individuals who want to be left alone.

The goons (all dot gov persons) are basically waiting for you and me to fight back. It cannot be just you and me. It can only be organized stealth groups here and there and everywhere.

“They” cannot produce a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. Only our side is productive. Example; the Viet Cong were productive in many, many ways. The US Army only had “supply” lines. Think about that for a few evenings. The Viet Cong beat the US Army without winning a single major battle. Centralized control is a road to eventual defeat.

Did our military defeat the Islamo fascists over the last decades? Answer . . . NO.

  • Dirk March 17, 2023, 7:41 AM

Amusing to me, don’t watch TV, choose your own selection of music, at least on this mountain one would never know of the calamity happening in these United States. In deed on this planet.

Here we are able to literally shut out the noise, which for most of small town AMERICA this is just noise. Nightly news has zero value, we recently Re ordered the local news papers after a 10 year break. As we suspected nada has changed at the paper. If anything the editors have doubled down on Their communist views.

Sadly the local rag has been begging citizens to Re engage the papers, even after being told by thousands living here that their communist overview isn’t of interest.

Lest in life we feel that supporting a news paper whom engages in at a minimum socialists doctrine is not in our best interests. The paper although newly restarted, is being shut down at our home. Even Pennie’s spent on leftest talking points feeds the beast.

It’s like political donations, you donate, “ They” assume you’re a card carrying member of their ideas.

We’re not, we’re out. I’ll donate those monies back to one of the “homes for disabled vet programs”..

Lastly three more shirts Gerard designed are available for free.

If you want one contact me at “dirkandcarole8495@gmail.com”. They’re packaged as new, and already in those US Mail if it fits it ships packages. All I need is an address, I’ll do the rest.

I have been reading this blog for a long time. I’m not much of a commenter on any blog, but I always enjoy reading the comments here and will keep comming back as long as there are new ones. I always learn something here, but as an old dirt farmer with and a 12 grade education I don’t have a lot to contribute.

    • ghostsniper March 17, 2023, 9:06 AM

      Sure you do.
You know some things that most of us here do not.
      Dirt farming for example.
There are no rules except to treat others as you’d like to be treated, and write about the things you know about and anything you think others here might be interested in. BTW, how deep must the good soil be to grow good crops? I read somewhere recently it should be 12″-24″ deep depending on what is being planted. What’s your take, and why?

      • G706 March 20, 2023, 9:10 AM

You are correct, deep soil is best because the plants get their nutrition from the soil, we can add nitrogen and other major nutrients with fertilizer and manure, but the key is the quality of the soil. Iowa soil is average 3-6 inches and it’s pretty productive. I farm a river flood plain and the soil is deep. Some has potential to grow 140 bushel wheat and other fields are wet heavy clay that do best in permanent grass.
