Noted in Passing: George W. Bush says “Who, me?”

Statement by President and Mrs. Bush on Afghanistan | Bush Center

Laura and I have been watching the tragic events unfolding in Afghanistan with deep sadness. Our hearts are heavy for both the Afghan people who have suffered so much and for the Americans and NATO allies who have sacrificed so much.

The Afghans now at the greatest risk are the same ones who have been on the forefront of progress inside their nation…

This person is going to be a dipshit his whole life. What a loser.
Yes of course, bring another half a million communist voters in, why not?

Me: “I’ll be out in the shop sharpening my hawks.”

“Laura and I are confident that the evacuation efforts will be effective because they are being carried out by the remarkable men and women of the United States Armed Forces, diplomatic corps, and intelligence community.”

Some presidents look better in retrospect. hell, even the commies grudgingly give Reagan his due. Chimpy just keeps turning into a bigger tool as the years pass.

Well I guess we all said nice things about Bush Junior back in the day and defended him against his myriad detractors. I know I did. And I was wrong then. All that can be said is that it was less wrong to support Bush in 2001-8 than it would be to give him a glass of water in the middle of a desert now.

We’re all slow learners. Can’t be helped. Just how we Apes are. I guess the trick is to buy one’s lessons for less than $2T and rivers of blood, corruption, and humiliations… And to take notes. Yeah. Let’s make Small Wars Small Again! Now there’s a slogan.

Here is the crux of it. The progressives, neocons and the other assorted elites have think that Culture and Human Nature can be manipulated, changed or terrorized into submission. The arrogant assumption is that they are so wonderful that everyone wants to be like them and serve their theories about how things should be. Every time they are flummoxed when a primitive people doesn’t just give up their culture and “behave “. They have confused culture with their feeble minded zeitgeist.

Heard an interesting one word comment regarding that family. Evil.

  • Nori August 17, 2021, 9:02 PM

    You preening,treasonous,soulless bastards.
And the witches? Those smug, heartless females clogging the body politic? Creating so much of this cultural horror with your fake open-minded benevolence?

  • mkent August 17, 2021, 9:27 PM

Zaphod: I don’t remember that. Did you go by a different moniker back then?

  • Zaphod August 17, 2021, 11:09 PM

Used to post there as Kinch, being a recovering Joycean cut price iconoclast. Then Zaphod. Not sure what I’ll be resurrected as. Conceivably Marvin in honour of my sunny outlook and paranoia. Slartibartfast takes too much typing.

Any fans here of Academic Agent? It’s not quite talk radio, but that’s OK.

Good God. Like the Bourbons of old, Bush has “learned nothing and forgotten nothing.” A man of his age spewing such nonsense, such idiocy. He sounds like a 20 year old college girl at an expensive East Coast university.

America would have been better off had this damned fool and his entire family never been born.

  • John the River August 18, 2021, 5:35 AM

At least the father had the brains to not stick around and try and take over Iraq in the first Gulf war.

I’d exchange all of the Bush years for one more year of Trump.

Amusing, We don’t elect presidents, They do..

yet I keep voting, hoping, praying.

  • Sam L. August 18, 2021, 8:23 AM

I was going to say that the Bushes are “Bush League”, but now I’m going with “Swamp and Ooze League.” “Bottom of the Oceans League” is warming up.

  • tim August 18, 2021, 8:39 AM

Plenty of blame to go around, but the current Occupier in Chief owns this ongoing withdrawal disaster. I’m not gonn’a ever let him, or those who voted for him, try to deflect the blame. It’s ALL on him. Full. Stop.
My thoughts are too preoccupied with my fellow Americans trapped in that hellhole, with absolutely no idea how they’re gonn’a get out, to hate on someone who left office 12 & 1/2 years ago.
    Let it go.

Taliban trolls Biden, !!!,. I’m in huge back pain after a procedure few weeks ago. I’m looking for amusing stuff to occupy my brains.

I found a picture of Taliban fighters posing , All while eating ice cream comes. Seems those boys to have a sense of humor!

Sorry, Tim. It was the evil chimp – W, that got us into that mess to begin with and it was he that also set about the task of “nation-building” (a monumental objective that could take 100 years since they really don’t have a “nation” with actual infrastructure.) and exporting “Democracy” (like everyone in the worlds wants to be like us and has adequate understanding of the fundamental tenets to build such a system of governance….out of primitive tribal clans….good luck.). W was and always will be a globalist shit-weasel, just like his daddy. Some of us won’t forget it.
And to be fair, W’s successor, Captain Zero the magic mulatto, used the cover of the GWOT to execute at least one American citizen with a drone strike, while abroad, no criminal indictment, no trial, just take him out.

And for Casey and others that have a military connection I believe the central point of the link below is valid and worthy of deep contemplation.

Sweet Jezuz you all are brutal! I am laughing!!!

  • DNW August 18, 2021, 4:12 PM

Well, Zaphod. This is where you went, and where the links posted in response to my question led.

Please consider revisiting Neo’s blog again. She is ready to welcome you back, just like a caring mother who seeks only good for you, and a minimum of decorum from you.

Now, I might have my own rather selfish reasons for asking, but as far as you need concern yourself it is only fellow-feeling, concern for the eventual good of your soul, and a disinterested intercession in order to heal social breaches that motivates me.

    Om, misses you.

It has been a joy to behold the orneriness of this site and its regular commenters going ever vertical over the past several years. Long may they fulminate and I don’t give Two Hutus for the naysayers.

  • Jack Lawson August 18, 2021, 6:35 PM

I was sooooo worried and can relax now that the President of Afghanistan got out with his helicopter load of cash. Our money.

  • Mike-SMO August 18, 2021, 10:38 PM

I am sure that Slo Joe and Willy’s Ho will help their fellow Presidente escape with his loot since at least 10% goes to the “Big Guy”, with a taste to Nancy and Chucky. After all, it is “normal” politics again.

The Trumpster already had lots of cash, so his game was, “Cut and Run”. You can’t enjoy the loot while you are fighting the “Mob”. Prolly something his Daddy taught him.
