AC/DC – Thunderstruck (Official Video) 1,006,476,140 views Nov 7, 2012

In Beast Mode…. but then when aren’t they in Beast Mode?

Noted In Passing:

The song was used as part of the payload of a computer virus which attacked the Iranian nuclear program between 2009 and 2010. Reportedly developed by the US and Israeli governments, Stuxnet took control of centrifuge controls in nuclear facilities across the country causing extensive damage to machinery. Additionally, various workstations were hijacked with the song playing randomly at high volume late at night. In an email sent to Finnish computer security expert, Mikko Hypponen of F-Secure, one of the scientists involved in the program was quoted as saying:

…There was also some music playing randomly on several of the workstations during the middle of the night with the volume maxed out. I believe it was playing ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC.

Thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder
Thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder
Thunder, thunder
I was caught
In the middle of a railroad track (thunder)
I looked ’round
And I knew there was no turning back (thunder)
My mind raced
And I thought, what could I do? (Thunder)
And I knew
There was no help, no help from you (thunder)

Sound of the drums
Beating in my heart
The thunder of guns
Tore me apart
You’ve been
Thunderstruck
Rode down the highway
Broke the limit, we hit the town
Went through to Texas, yeah, Texas, and we had some fun
We met some girls
Some dancers who gave a good time
Broke all the rules
Played all the fools
Yeah, yeah, they, they, they blew our minds
And I was shaking at the knees
Could I come again, please?

Yeah, them ladies were too kind
You’ve been
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Yeah, yeah, yeah, thunderstruck
Ooh, thunderstruck, yeah
I was shaking at the knees
Could I come again, please? Oh

Thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Yeah, yeah, yeah, thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Yeah, yeah, yeah, said, yeah, it’s alright, we’re doin’ fine
Yeah, it’s alright, we’re doin’ fine, fine, fine

Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, whoa, baby, baby
Thunderstruck, you’ve been thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, you’ve been thunderstruck

Head banging music for Iranians…oh Hell Yeah? Those calls to prayer 7x a day would make my ass lose its mind much quicker than singing and dancing around a nuke reactor in Iran while listening to AC/DC. Those assholes should be so lucky.

    Speaking of Texas.
If you know anything about guitars, and have ever yearned for that lil’ ol’ Texas town, you’ll find this amazing.

In my life I have probably owned 30 guitars. One time in my apartment resided 14 of them: a Martin, a Telecaster, a Stratocaster, a Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion jazz guitar, an SG, a Les Paul Gold Top, a Cordoba, a Godin, a Ramirez and a bunch of Jose Jacopi classical guitars.

      All gone. All forgotten.

Once the fingers learn they never forget, and in the absence of a fertile ground, they may yearn.
I’m down to 4 guitars right now, and 1 keyboard.
You had some nice stuff in your stable.

I’m a nut for them too. At the moment I own a 92 Strat, a National Deuco, a Collings 2hT Parlor, a Collings 02h and a raspy little Yamaha CG172SF flamenco blanca that has been spending a lot of time in my lap lately. In the past I’ve owned an Hiradi classical, a lovely little flamenco blanca made by Seville based luthier Andres Dominques Guerrero, a pair of Mule resonators and three or four Taylors in 6 and 12 string designs and a great little 314ce-N (crossover) that I’m still kicking myself for selling.

My younger brother is just as bad, if not worse. He owns a Tele, a Maton and a Lowden along with 2-3 Gypsy Jazz instruments that he plays on stage. And, a friend of his died last year and left him some big honking Gibson that looks something Brian Setzer would play.

The guitar itch is as bad a disease as any I’ve ever seen but compared to some people all I have is a very mild symptom.

Beauties they were. Then came a day when they were strangers to me. I could not rekindle the love affair. I have not played since. I do not at all miss it, and I don’t know why.

My son has a bunch and we’ll beer harmonize quite often. Shucky darn, we even set one of Gerald’s poems to tune and having absolutely no shame, I sent the audio to him.

One of his is a Slender, Japanese Fender Strat knockoff I bought in an Uminomoto Japan junk shop for 3 bucks (& a bit over a hundred bucks shipping it back to Alaska). A semi-professional guitarist (Fine carpentry, his day job.) I met in Japan had a sweet sounding FrankinFender, 2 broken Fenders and a somethinforother he’d cobbled together.

AC/DC rocks Thunderstruck, no doubt, but a bunch of Finns’, namely Steve ‘n’ Seagulls, homage to Thunderstruck is my personal favorite rendition.

Agreed. That is my fave riff on TS

Thanks John. I spent about an hour on that site last night, observing the cultural difference, and mannerisms. Gotta give em credit for their endeavors. Bluegrass Rock – Scandinavian Style.

You’re welcome, Ghostsniper. They were here in Grand Rapids, MI, playing at Founder’s Brewery, a couple years ago. Very entertaining, live, too. My Finnish friend, slightly drunk as he says, enabled us to meet the band. We had a great time!

IIRC, AC/DC played warm-up at a Grateful Dead show in Buffalo way back in 1977 and they sucked so bad that we BOOOooooD THEM OFF THE STAGE!

    Headbangers…so annoying.
