Noted in Passing: Where Dems Rule and Police Are Defunded Blood Coats the Streets

A dozen US cities set annual murder records…

According to police data, 12 big cities with Democrats at the helm already have chalked up record annual murder counts, with three weeks still to go in the year.

Philadelphia, the nation’s sixth largest city, recorded 523 murders as of Dec. 7, surpassing its formal grim milestone of 500 murders, which was set in 1990, police data showed.

The City of Brotherly Love had recorded significantly more murders in 2021 than New York City’s 443, despite having approximately six times fewer residents.

“It’s terrible to every morning get up and have to go look at the numbers and then look at the news and see the stories. It’s just crazy. It’s just crazy and this needs to stop,” Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, a Democrat, reportedly said after his city broke its own infamous benchmark.

Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; St Paul, Minnesota; Portland, Oregon; Tucson, Arizona; Toledo, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Rochester, New York and Albuquerque, New Mexico also had their deadliest years on record, according to ABC News.

The US city with the most homicides was Chicago, the nation’s third largest. Chicago’s 753 murders so far to date this year were still well behind its 1970 record of 954 killings, according to ABC.

Besides the total control of the cities by Democrats for decades, what could possibly be the other factor in these cities that accounts for such high murder rates?

Prepare to add Boston and the other Massachusetts cities to that column. The Soros DA from Suffolk County has been confirmed as the new Federal prosecutor for MA. In Boston she legalized shoplifting and refused to charge many career criminals for anything short of 1st degree murder. Now she has statewide clout.
Hanging on by my fingers here.

Besides the total control of the cities by Democrats for decades, what could possibly be the other factor in these cities that accounts for such high murder rates?

    The “experts” say climate change.

    • Mike Austin December 10, 2021, 9:20 AM

Climate Change? Why, everyone knows the reasons for these sky-high murder rates are the hundreds of squads of White Supremacists hunting down legions of helpless blacks who “dindu nuffin” and murdering them on the spot. The police are in on it too. I’m so glad that the US government and the media struggle daily to get the truth out.

      • gw December 10, 2021, 9:33 AM

The climate sure’s changed in Chicago. It feels more like Kabul here with every passing day.

    • Casey Klahn December 10, 2021, 6:25 PM

The climate disproportionately harms wimmins and minorities. You know that. sarc/

  • nunnya bidnez, jr December 10, 2021, 9:13 AM

New York City’s highest murder rate was during the David Dinkins era; about 2,200 people were killed one year. The current year’s rate of less than 500 should seem safe and idyllic, yet there seems to be rising fear in the air. Partially fueled by apps like citizen.com, and twitter feeds like twitter.com/NY_Scoop, there is a constant barrage of notices about low level street crime. Unlike the neighborhood newspapers that run Police Blotters once a week, it’s easy to look online every time you hear too many ambulances and police cars screaming past, and gawk at whatever tragedy or crime is happening. It’s unnerving sometimes.

I refer to it as Uglyquerque. I drive in… get whatever needed to be done… and get the fuck out. Santa Fe is a smaller version because of the Democratic disease. Wanting to be in on the trendy loot-n-run phenomena our local Tuesday Morning bargain close-out store was attacked by a mob who ran in, stole all the purses and shoes, and then ran out. I will be amazed if the local District Attorney, a Democrat, does anything about Alec Baldwin’s excellent adventure of late.

    • Michael Anderson December 11, 2021, 7:03 AM

Loot-n-run at a Tuesday Morning? The Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations in action!

  • tim December 10, 2021, 9:44 AM

A correction to the graph – Rochester, NY is at 79 murders as of this morning…with the weekend to come, which always bring more. (71 was back on November 11th)

    https://www.newskudo.com/new-york/rochester/crime-safety/6075883-rochester-records-79th-homicide-of-the-year

Don’t want us to get short changed. 21 days to go!

    • Mike Austin December 10, 2021, 10:47 AM

Tim: Rochester might just win this contest, taking into calculation the population differences. What would be the prize if so? Good luck and good hunting!

      • tim December 10, 2021, 11:59 AM

We’ve already won Mike, we’re being mentioned along such cities as Philly, Austin & Portland 😉

        • Mike Austin December 10, 2021, 12:20 PM

          I send my hearty congratulations!

    • gwbnyc December 10, 2021, 12:31 PM

what’s that count equivalent to in Skittles®?

    • Klau December 10, 2021, 4:34 PM

That’s 79 out of a little over 200k. I wonder how many were just gangbangers offing each other?

  • ghostsniper December 10, 2021, 10:10 AM

Trash taking out the trash, is there a downside in this?
Stay outta the trash and you’ll be OK.
But if trash gets unruly keep a shotgun close.

    • Lance de Boyle December 10, 2021, 11:36 AM

I like the way you think. And perhaps a variety of shot shells—stove bolts, ball and chain, dragon’s
breath, rifled slugs, chunks of cheese.

    • Mike Austin December 10, 2021, 4:41 PM

A downside? Only when the ferals invade Caucasian lands. As long as they only kill each other, who cares? They don’t, so why should anybody else? Should we be reminded that the number one cause of death among black males 15 – 25 is other black males?

  • Tony December 10, 2021, 10:13 AM

Philly mayor says the unrelenting murdering “needs to stop.”
What a pathetically passive phrase that is.
I suppose the community organizers should fan out and tell the perpetrators that they “need to stop.” Tell ‘em that edict came straight from the mayor.
I imagine that will take care of it.

  • AlfromChgo December 10, 2021, 10:41 AM

Chicago now at 806, this does not count the drive by shooting death on the city expressways which are patrolled by the Illinois State Police.

  • John B December 10, 2021, 10:43 AM

“…six times fewer residents…” is a meaningless phrase! Perhaps you mean “one-sixth the population”? [Sorry, you pushed one of my buttons;-)]

BTW, great Blog! One of my very few ‘must-stops’ every day.

  • James December 10, 2021, 12:31 PM

Besides the total control of the cities by Democrats for decades, what could possibly be the other factor in these cities that accounts for such high murder rates?
Diversity, plus not only the libturds running the place, but residing there as well

  • Dirk December 10, 2021, 6:13 PM

Homicide, murder, a horrible thing. Yet, individuals hourly lull themselves into piss poor survival situations. Place themselves in really poor situations One can condense their chances of being killed,,,,or badly hurt if they simply listen to themselves.

Each of us possesses animal like skills, we hear things, SENSE things. When shits going down, your eyes “pupils “open wide the clarity of your sight is vivid, amazing actually!. And your nuts focused on your objective. Most seem to understand side vision is amazing, any movement out to a reasonable distance is detected, it’s how your brain interprets, what you saw, that comes from experiences.

Hunters of men,,,,,,stalk using this skill, many others.

You ever smelled “ Fear” on another human being? Trust me you will know it, the scent is distinct, the physiological indicators are clear.

Have you ever smelled death? I pray you never do.

Don’t allow yourself,,,to be taken as pray. Don’t allow others to hunt you. Always have a plane to protect yourself, your family in any environment. Be a hard target.

Lastly understand this. You may become the hunter. Could be terrifying, when it’s finished you will feel something you’ve never likely experienced. The skis bluer, the air sweater, your sense will be so switched on, you won’t be able to not experience em.

    • Mike Austin December 11, 2021, 12:15 AM

I saw plenty of dead folks while a medic in the USAF in Texas. Mainly gun shots and car wrecks. I have only smelled fear on myself while alone in the wilds: a tensing of muscles, acid rising in my throat, a lightheadedness and nausea. When the fear was gone I felt refreshed, like everything was new.

I have been in the habit of paying attention to my surroundings whenever I leave my apartment. Of course I am always armed—always. I regard those who wander unarmed around 2021 USA as very foolish indeed.

      • Missy December 11, 2021, 7:43 AM

I am looking at the Smith & Wesson 9mm EZ Shield M2.0. It is the first 9 mm I have experienced that I can rack with ease. My question is whether I buy the standard model at my local hardware/farm supply/gun and ammo store that I love, or should I order the one with the crimson laser feature online? I have been shooting a friend’s 9mm (he has to rack it) pretty well at his farm range. He is not sure I need the laser. I have no idea. Opinions welcome. Whatever, I have to step up from my H&R 22 LR to a big girl handgun for home defense.

        • jpm December 11, 2021, 8:43 AM

The reality is most pistols get fired at inside a range of 9′ or less. You really aren’t going to use the laser and I can see a huge disadvantage to trying to keep the battery charged over time.

          • Mike Austin December 11, 2021, 10:11 AM

Agreed. Most dust ups happen so quickly that you will be relying on muscle memory and habit gained from regular training at home. I have seen shooters so reliant on lasers that, for all intents and purposes, in a real fight they would have been in serious difficulty. Practice at home so that drawing, aiming and firing become instinctual.

        • ghostsniper December 11, 2021, 6:46 PM

Crimson will add a couple hundred to the cost, they are the Rolls Royce of that stuff.
And it won’t increase the performance of the gun.
          Keep it simple.
Shoot, in a lot of different ways.

        • Foo December 11, 2021, 7:39 PM

Go to a gun store with a range and try different handguns, until you find something that fits your hand, points naturally and you can shoot with ease.
If you lack grip strength to rack a 9, try something smaller, or a revolver.

You will most likely be carrying this as self defense in close, (cuz you already have a long gun)
so just find something you can draw and make ready, easily, and practice pointing and shooting 7yds max to start.

You dont need lasers or fancy sights for that.

          • Missy December 12, 2021, 10:12 AM

I bought the S&W this morning (without the laser.) Thanks to all for your sound advice. Foo, my H&R LR 22 is a top break, vintage revolver. Confusing name, but there you go.

  • olga V December 10, 2021, 6:13 PM

Didn’t know Indianapolis was in Iowa, thanks for updating me on my true location. Makes me wonder what else they got wrong

    • JDK December 11, 2021, 8:29 PM

Yes, Iowa is abbreviated IA, Indiana is IN. Olga, perhaps you can be happier in the “Beautiful Land” between the rivers. 😉

  • Casey Klahn December 10, 2021, 6:27 PM

Add to your liabilities, now, as a citizen, the duty of policing your own surroundings. You’ll need the same small arms that the cops have.

    • Dirk December 10, 2021, 10:45 PM

Casey, while carrying a weapons a huge pain in the ass, even in my small town AMERICA, couldn’t imagine Not carrying a small pistol, anytime I’m exiting my vehicle.

Of course the responsibility of carrying a weapon for protection opens up a completely different series of required responsibilities,,,,,,,, I’ll take a small pistol and two spare magazines over nada every time. With the bullet options these days, he’ll even the .32 s can be a reasonable choice.

Look at the newer Glock 48s, or the 43’s or the 42’s. Outstanding weapons slim size, a pocket full of protection. Lots of smaller pocket pistols to fit the bill. Smith and Wessons new pistols are an outstanding value.

Heck Springfield Armory is remaking the Browning P35, the Browning High Power. One dam fine pistol. I’ll have two of the Springfield offerings by the coming of the new year.

After the 1911, the Hi Powers my all time favorite carry pistol. 14 rounds, the mag disconnect is no longer installed, a plus for upgrading this wonderful old 9mm semi auto, single action pistol.

      • Mike Austin December 11, 2021, 12:20 AM

My weapons of choice are .40 Smith & Wesson, 9mm Ruger, 9mm SCCY and a WASR-10 Kalashnikov. Lots of ammo too. Each has its own purpose. I’m looking at a Taurus .357 revolver as well.

        • James ONeil December 11, 2021, 11:59 AM

Location influences choice. My cabin & canoe safety blanket, Winchester model 12.
Waist deep in a stream, .41 mag Desert Eagle (Was going to get a .44 mag barrel for it but after putting a .41 round through 3 1//2 2″ x4″s decided .41’s just fine.) in a shoulder holster.
Judge with 410 and .45 for short walkabouts.
Wee .38; not noticeable when in churches or stores.

Oh, and for meat shopping and blowing out candles, my FN: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/319805/50408362 😉

Location influences choice, I occasionally come across big hairy things with 3 inch claws, up to a ton and a half of muscle on hoofs with antlers, many smaller but often meaner hairy things and, of course two legged snakes (The only kind of snake we have here in Alaska.), hence this boy scout has ta be prepared a bit differently than one in say, Eau Gallie, Florida.

      • John the River December 11, 2021, 7:55 AM

So many fine weapons. That I can’t buy here in Massachusetts.
No Glocks or the High-Power or anything with a magazine larger than 10 rounds.
That’s why I hope one of the local gun clubs/ranges open up membership again. With only eight rounds in my SW Compact 9mm I need to know I can be effective with it.

        • Mike Austin December 11, 2021, 10:31 AM

My 9mm SCCY has only a 10 round capacity, so I use it only when walking outside around my apartment building checking mail and taking out garbage. For anything else, the Ruger 9mm with a 14 round magazine. And no matter the firearm, I take a spare mag. I always have a round in the chamber as well.

I know the gun laws in Massachusetts are terrible. Here in Oklahoma, buying a gun takes scarcely more time than buying a carton of eggs.

        • Dirk December 11, 2021, 10:31 AM

John I’m sorry to hear your states limiting your options. That said, many many fine weapons on the market with only 10 rounds,,,,,,,actually 11, with one in the chamber. While bigger the 1911 is 8 rounds plus one is a glorious ball buster.

I carried a 1911 for 25 years on duty, used Chip McCormack 10 round mags. A heavy gun, but good lord that 230 grain bullet puts some serious hurt on its targets. My back up for the majority of those 25 years was the six plus one AMT .45. A very slight pistol, with a 18 pound trigger pull. The trigger pull is the safety.

Friends, end of the day the truth is simple, don’t matter what tool your carrying, it’s how you make the tool work for you, under stress. Your mind set.

I’ll say this aswell, these pocket pistols are for breaking contact, not charging the ambush. Aimed accurate fire, as you get the hell out of the situation.

Dammit…..I’m tired of the rampant discrimination in reporting crimes. It’s not fair, I’ll tell ya!

Damn New Orleans has had right around 200 murders this year, Damn Memphis has a piddling 250+/- this year and Damn Jafrica, Mississippi is closing in on 140 but the MSM in these burgs may be holding back on telling the truth so they don’t look so ugly and violent…no one needs that.

I have hope though…that all of these numbers will jump by at least another 10%. We still have Christmas and New Years Eve. So many jigs and not enough time.

    • Mike Austin December 11, 2021, 1:24 PM

A description of New Orleans in 2006:

“Truth be told the crime rate in the Big Easy was always much higher than the rest on the US. Murder rates themselves were 10 times as high. Even the tony French Quarter was rife with robbery, murder and mayhem. What would have been unacceptable in any other American town had become the ordinary in New Orleans…Last year, researchers had police fire 700 blank rounds in a city neighborhood one afternoon. No one called to report the gunfire…The cops themselves were part of the problem, often not even responding to calls for help. And it must be said, that an odor of degradation, decadence and grotesque immorality has always pervaded the city.”

Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

  • David December 10, 2021, 8:05 PM

I live a distance from Columbus, a suburb. I work in East Columbus.
Most of the murders (>90%?) are related to drug crimes, or between drug dealers.

The other day, two men (African American) got out of a car, and shot to death a 22 year old man (African American) and two kids in the car with him. Two kids, 5 or 6 years old. The two men got back in the car, and a third man was driving, and they disappeared.
The police admitted this was a planned hit, and not some random murder or shooting. It’s crazy. Sick. Most of the murders are in a few sections of the city. I think this is (largely) the same thing going on about everywhere.

  • Walter Sobchak December 10, 2021, 9:22 PM

David: I live in in an independently incorporated area in east central Columbus.

The city’s broadsheet news paper The Dispatch maintains an online database of murders at:
    https://www.dispatch.com/in-depth/news/crime/2021/07/21/columbus-ohio-homicides-map-and-database/7812208002/

The assassinations of which you wrote were numbers 185, 186, and 187 giving the city a new record.

However in July of this year, the Dispatch announced that it would no longer routinely report murders to promote equity and fairness. It is a purely political cover-up.

In fact all sentient beings know what is going on. Black lives do not matter to black people and white people are not supposed to know that. But, they do.

*Although that triple murder did get reported: https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2021/12/08/columbus-assistant-police-chief-vows-find-monsters-who-killed-three/6433074001/

  • brinster December 11, 2021, 6:39 AM

Mayor Kenney said “this needs to stop,” by which he means all those white supremacist marauders invading black neighborhoods wreaking havoc. Them and the cops, of course. More blacks are killed by their “brothers” in a week in Chicago than white cops have killed black guys in the last 5 freakin’ years.

“Besides the total control of the cities by Democrats for decades, what could possibly be the other factor in these cities that accounts for such high murder rates?”
The last 60 years of America’s history, the ongoing destruction of Christianity, the Great Society, the welfare state, the morons in our legal system, political lunacy, our growing Idiocracy, and of course the unfailing ability of the left to turn everything it touches into a heap of dung.

The answer to the question almost doesn’t matter anymore. Absent a national revelation, you’re on your own. Be prepared.

  • Sam L. December 12, 2021, 12:28 PM

I lived in Albuquerque for two years, and Tucson for 5, but those were in 68-70 and 70-75. I’m not going back.
