Shine On You Crazy Diamond [Official Music Video] 1975
>>>>>FAST FORWARD FORTY-FOUR YEARS>>>>>
In Concert 2019
Added Reflection from 2021: A detailed reaction tour and take by a classical composer. Probably only for aficionados.<!– Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond
Now there’s a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky
Shine on you crazy diamond
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom
Blown on the steel breeze
Come on you target for faraway laughter
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon
Shine on you crazy diamond
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light
Shine on you crazy diamond
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision
Rode on the steel breeze
Come on you raver, you seer of visions
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine
And last, but by no means least, something from the dark side of the moon, Close Encounters’ “Play the Five Tones”
My dad came in my room one time when I was about 15 and listening to Adam Heart Mother on headphones and he wanted to hear it. He put the headphones on and immediately took em off and asked, “What the hell is wrong with you?” My dad liked Hank Snow, Ferlin Husky, you know, all that north to alaska type stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Shine On” being enjoyed by Doug.
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard it before. It’s a perfect expression of grief that keeps getting lifted up in hope. I too, was smiling at the end. May we all be smiling at the end.
Used to listen to Crazy Diamond, while being Comfortably Numb! Go figure.
And and, we are not alone. I’m pretty sure my lovely wife’s from outer space. She’s just too dammed perfect!

While the Floyd was recording WISH YOU WERE HERE, their old bandmate Syd Barrett showed up at the studio. He’d been kicked out of the group several years earlier because of his deteriorating psychological condition, and it was obvious that he was now a permanent resident of *Cloud Cuckoo-Land*.
That whole LP, and this song in particular, were dedicated to Syd.

My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I reach my hands and play with pebbles of destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

But thats what artists do.
(If you haven’t discovered it yet, LSOT has much of what you may find of interest. )
Just maybe a little more appropriate for us boomers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gsp2CZQYd18
