I’ve got some mixed feelings this morning.

I’m sure that Gerard would have had some insightful takes on what we’re watching happen around the world today.

And I’m glad that he doesn’t have to watch it.

    Stay strapped.

It’s a lovely day today, suns shining, skies clear, temp about 68 degrees, but I’m in a shitty mood and only want to sit on the porch and sip some suds.

But I have no suds and don’t feel like going to a store to get some.
They should make powdered brews. You know, like kool aid. Just dump it in a pitcher, add water, stir.
Stick it in the freezer for an hour and bobs your uncle. Yeah, I think I could drink a whole pitcher right now. Guess I’ll just make a mud instead. Gog approaches…

On another note. A long time ago I had a conversation with an old dood that was very smart regarding biblical stuff. I don’t remember the whole conversation but part of it is still welded into my brain housing group.

He said the was a large religious building or structure in the middle east that was very holy and if anything ever caused destruction to it that was trigger the end of the world as we know it. Pre-emptively thinking that he meant that if it got bombed or blowed up, I said, “Well, if that place is that important they should build a giant solid concrete dome over top of it so it can’t get blowed up.”

He then said, “It could be destroyed by an earthquake.”

I pondered for a moment and then looked at him and asked, “We can’t get out of this can we?”
He didn’t answer, just walked off.
I was about 14 at the time, and I’m 68 now.
I have thought about this thousands of times during that period, and still.
Maybe all of this is not controllable.

Through autumn’s golden gown we used to kick our way…

If this doesn’t touch you, you’re not human.

The Moodies are probably my all time favorite band. I was fortunate to see them several times. This song đź’–. My favorite memory is when my son was 10 or 11 (gonna be 40 next month). Back then I had terrible migraines. I’d lay on the couch with a pillow over my eyes and the big old Bose headphones and listen to the Moodies. I’d pick out one particular thing to focus on, the base line worked best. Very often the headache would be gone by the album’s end. One afternoon the power went out. When my son realized I had a headache and no music he sat on the floor next to me and sang “Tuesday Afternoon.
Thanks for the music ghost. Think I’ll listen to some Moodies now.

I was about 14 when I first heard them, 1969. I was hooked, consumed everything they did after that. My favorite is “Days of Future Passed”, next, “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour”.

This sign should be posted at the entry to every business in the US:

“Anyone wearing a mask will be presumed to be intending armed robbery and immediately shot in the face. Govern yourself accordingly.”

One way or the other it might clear out some retards.

President Joe Biden plans to make a direct appeal to the American people to continue funding Ukraine and Israel amid their war efforts in an Oval Office address Thursday, according to two administration officials.

Try to get a grip on the unmitigated arrogant gall of this criminal bastard.
His organization steals money from the US citizens and then proposes to give it to complete strangers in distant lands. And “pretends” to be asking for it when everyone knows he’s going to do what he wants regardless of what the citizens want. $32 trillion in debt and climbing.

My son and I went to the gun range last night. Went to shoot some rifle, but all lanes were busy. We ended up shooting some old .38 rounds out of a Blackhawk and about three boxes of 9 out of the Glox. He shoots pretty well. Had to remind him to slightly lean into the pistol and not sit on his heels. Gun range is always a good time for a Dad and his son.

      Yep. None better.
Been about 4 years since my son and me went to the range.
      I’m jonesin’.

It was at the Atterbury military base and afterward we hit the mexican joint in Morgantown on the way home. We each had the fajita combo platter and warshed em down with the biggest ‘ritas I had ever seen. That was the first and last time he shot my AR.

The PT girl took a picture of the surgical incision on my spine and showed it to me…
Wowsa! The first operation left a scar about the size of USB port. This one is over four inches and 13 staples. (an online friend helpfully suggested I tell people that it’s the zipper for my skin suit)
Hopefully the staples are coming out next week.
I need to get to the gun shop, I think I need better grips on my SW 646. Theoretically the repair job on my back means I can stand up at the firing line again. Bad times out there; buy ammo, go to range, rinse and repeat.

    John,
YIKES!!! Please recover. Said a prayer for you. Gun range is good therapy for challenges in life.

I received a $150 surprise charge on my credit card from American Digest today. Not good.

    • John the River October 20, 2023, 10:54 AM

Oh dear. I got that last month and the credit card company didn’t have much to say other than, “It’s fraud, we’re cancelling that card and reissuing you a new one”.
Obviously they didn’t shut down the site committing the fraud or you wouldn’t be having the same problem this month.
I’ve come to realize over the years that the banks and CC companies don’t really give a damn about fraud. Any more than City Hall cares about vote fraud.
I’m afraid that we are all going to see more of this going forward probably until we give up on using credit cards altogether.
