Lest We Forget: Lara Logan -- The Summing Up in a Comment

In Warrior @ AMERICAN DIGEST RedCarolina remarks:

She was wrong on Mubarak leaving, she was wrong on the army's allegiance, she was wrong about the Muslim Brotherhood. She forgot she was in reality. These people love the way they look and sound on camera. Period. She won't forget although the story of her attack has been suppressed. The "firm" (or is it a cult?) for which she works does not deal in reality. They are so impressed with themselves they can't imagine reality. They don't value her safety. She was wrong in her reports and the only reason it matters is because she was so badly attacked. What was the point of her investigation if she was wrong. Naive. Delusional. Hell bent on blaming America. It's so engrained in their existence that she'll probably be on the ground in Libya next week. I will never understand these reporters, like the ones who accidentally crossed into Iran while hiking..??..in Iraq. Al Gore's reporter who was held in N.Korea.. Even Daniel Pearl. Don't we have secret agents doing the investigative stuff? Their motive is to make America look bad. Why can't they now rely on google to bring down dictators and Wikileaks to undermine America's missions? Listening to her, she is an addict. The drug is the need to damage America and it's allies and especially Israel. She is a useful idiot for the cause. They all are. -- Posted by: RedCarolina at March 5, 2011

Your Say

Non-Marxists liberals are often seem like one of two stereotypes found in modern movies. They are often like the naive teenage girl in the scary house with a killer on the lose who walks around in the middle of the night in their underwear and stupidly unlocks the basement door to investigate the strange noise without so much as a flashlight. Mayhem then ensues.

Or they are like the preppy white guy, usually in tennis whites, that somehow finds himself in the hood surrounded by thugs. Said preppy assures the thugs he doesn't want any trouble, like there was any risk of Preppy threatening anyone, and assuring the thugs he understands their struggle. Mayhem then ensues.

A liberal is a man who won't take his own side in an argument.

He may not take his own side in an argument, but he will vilify you for defending your side.

Instinctively, I felt badly for Lara Logan, but I just as reflexively noted in my mind that she had no business being where she was when she was.

The stupid moron who decided to "embed" reporters with US troops is the idiot responsible for "reporters" thinking they can go anywhere and say anything anytime without consequence. The problem with "reporters" getting by with being wrong and saying stupid things without consequences is a deeper problem, closely related to the notoriety of deep throat. (both of them)

One of the things that is conspicuously absent in this whole tale is: what exactly did they do to her?

Of course the whole incident is portrayed as "rape" by the same folks who think rape is identical to being whistled at. Did she get penetrated, or merely groped?

Why isn't anybody asking this question?

Posted by: Rob De Witt at March 6, 2011 8:33 PM

She was beaten with pipes solidly for awhile and violently pinched, which isn't quite the same as penetration. But I bet she still hurts.

Scott M, there is no "non Marxist liberal." That in itself in an oxymoron.

They should require all reporters to purchase personal body bags before sauntering into exciting new realities called NEWS STORIES.

Rob De Witt:

She was stripped naked, beaten, spanked, and groped. She was, according to one account, about to be raped after a half-hour of this abuse when some Egyptioan women rushed in and rescued her. Egyption soldiers came right on their heels.

She was lucky. They don't treat their own women much better. The women who saved her were risking their own lives. But the real story is that her investigation was wrong and therefore, pointless. Furthermore anything that did or didn't happen to her is the fault of America in the end, as far as "the firm" is concerned. Watch.. even her attack will be twisted to suit this blanket one-size-fits-all conclusion. Call it Western Guilt, call it anti-Americanism, anti-colonialism, whatever works. The investigation is useless. At some point, the Egyptians, with the use of google and twitter, must be held accountable now for their own destiny. Bleeding-hearts need to cut the proverbial apron strings, ween the helpless global community and let it grow up now before more stories like this begin to tarnish it's golden reputation. We'll never know what really happened to her unless one of her attackers brag-tweets or posts it on his facebook status update. The joke is on Laura. What will be interesting is the spin we'll get from the Leftists and liberals. The bleeding heart networks are usually the most astoundingly out of touch. And then there are the women of The View. Perhaps we should send them and Kathy Griffin over next time!

wean, that is.
