I'm so ignorant about the City of New York. Is this what is referred to as "gritty"? Does it have something to do with that diBlasio character winning office? Has everyone there agreed to enter 1970's mode, as if a button had been pushed?

What was I thinking?
It's gotten worse from when I was a kid. First, cost you $8 to go via the Holland Tunnel, and roads are just as crappy as they were when I left 25 years ago.
Secondly, no one speaks any English. What I found sickening is people selling memorabilia and handing out pamphlets around ground zero.
And the security sucks to get on a ferry, then more security going into the statue. Do they expect people to swim there and steal copper?
Thank God I don't live in the northeast anymore, it's gonna implode when the cheese runs out.
