The Pause That Reloads

Soda Machine Gun Safes: 5 Brands
By “soda machine gun safes,” I mean: soda-machine gun-safes. Not: soda machine-gun safes. (Although, given the number of soda machines that have been converted to gun lockers, it’s always possible that there might be a few soda-machine machine-gun safes out there.)

The soda machine/safe just demonstrates preventive medicine.

And 'out of sight, out of mind' is almost as good as having a safe.

Recently a lawyer friend showed me his honkin' big gun safe. He said it has a few old muskets and such, but nothing he couldn't bear to lose.

He said his other safe is somewhere — he wouldn't say where — and it's a little smaller. But he said it has all his pistols and other valuables, except for the handgun he keeps in his fingerprint-operated safe by the bed. His rationale: 'Let 'em have the junk in the big safe.'

He added that his hidden safe is to protect him from both burglars and cops. He says that based on his experience, when the cops confiscate guns, most folks will never see them again — even if they're completely innocent. I'm beginning to fear he's right. He should know.

I used to believe that politicians will keep their promises, and that judges can't be bought, and that all cops were honest. Then like Lily Tomlin, I became too cynical:

"No matter how cynical you become, it's never enough to keep up."

I think my cynicism began when I believed my recruiting sergeant's promises...

Your right about that cop stuff Smokey. In 2001 while walking my mutts at night we were attacked by a Rottweiler and I killed it.

I called animal control, no answer.

Called the sheriff, they asked if I had a concealed license and I said yeah. They said I was to shoot the animal if it attacked. I asked if my weapon would be confiscated and they said yes, pending the investigation of discharging a weapon within the city limits.

So you have to have a minimum of 2 guns. period.

Couple months later a deputy was arrested for selling 200+ guns at gun shows that he had stolen from the evidence room.

My dogs and I had been attacked twice more after the other one and I never fired my weapon. If I had my guns would have been sold by the gov't criminals.

There are 2 sets of criminals out there, the honest ones, and the ones that work for the gov't.
