Riding the Storm Out

Got a better idea?

Ridin’ the storm out, waitin’ for the thaw out
On a full moon night in the Rocky Mountain winter.
My wine bottle’s low, watching for the snow
Thinkin’ about what I’ve been missin’ in the city.

And I’m not missin’ a thing
Watchin’ the full moon crossing the range
Ridin’ the storm out
Ridin’ the storm out.

My lady’s beside me, she’s there to guide me.
She says that alone we’ve finally found home.
The wind outside is frightening,
But it’s kinder than the lightning life in the city.
It’s a hard life to live but it gives back what you give.

Saw REO two summers ago at GSR Reno Nv, fantastic show! Was impressed with just how tight the band was. Ran into band members at Breakfast the next morning, they sat at the table next to us, we had a great visit, my SIL got her pic taken with the fella’s.

If you have the opertunity, would highly recommend attending their show. Riding the storm out was amazing!

You saw the fake version of the band, long after they disbanded. Same with Skynyrd and many others.
My concert days are behind me.
If I have the desire I’ll watch the old, original bands, on that giant screen over there in the living room, where the whole place is devoid of assholes.

I saw REO when Gary Richrath was the guitarist. I memorized his solo on “Riding the Storm Out” and played it on my Les Paul Gold Top. Hard to believe that was almost 50 years ago. “Golden Country” was also excellent.

I saw them about 1983 when they were intact. Roll with the Changes was my favorite.

Great band. I always thought this was just a dopey love song until I say the video. Then I saw it completely differently: I Do’ Wanna Know – https://youtu.be/cnxG810Yz0g

Pre China bug we were attending many of the old bands, shows, monthly. Honestly we’ve been very very pleased. A few of the shows were bucket list, as these peeps age, their voices have aged like fine wine.

A couple not so much, for example Tommy Caldwell of Marshall Tucker, in Carson City Nv, just couldn’t pull it off, admitted it, apologized. That got him a lot of goodwill. Recognizing the problem, taking proactive steps to solve the problem with younger talent works for us.

We’re there for the music, the memories.

We Shall continue to go to select shows in Reno, we actively search out the old rockers who frequent the west coast, nor Cal, Ore, Wash venues. Seen some amazing shows.

Life’s funny like that, what we wanted in our teens and twenties mellows with age. We key on different stuff, for us it is the social stuff coupled with music from our youth. That trip back to our cognitive learning times.

Looking right now for an Elvin Bishop show, north of San Fran. Sadly Jo Baker his gal singers gone, she and the Blackbirds were angels voices sent from heaven. Also looking for Moby Grape, Quick Silver messenger service, Stoneground, and Traffic.

Awesome Terry, thank you,,,,,,,. Care to play THE game?

“I don’t need no doctor? “1971. Got em on right now. Stone Cold Fever’s up.

Seen em several times, my opinion the single best touring band ever.

Last show for me was Winterland. I sourced some MDMA, for the show.

Dirk, “I don’t need no doctor”. You would be an asset to my group I believe, but I may have to give you a sedative prior to deployment.

I don’t know if Humble Pie performed at Fillmore Auditorium in Frisco, but if they did I certainly missed something. Saw lots of other great groups there.

One of my favorite bands as a kid. MTV had them as a staple, live version of that video. Watching Richrath play it’s as if they just won’t let him loose. I got the impression Cronin was a tight ass or control freak. But Richrath always makes his way up to the front and when he moves to the back after a solo you can still hear his melody breaking through. Shame he went how he did.
Another great one is “Roll with the changes”.
