I CARRY A HANDGUN BECAUSE:
* Evil exists and may confront anyone at any time and any place.
* God exists and expects me to protect myself, those I love, and those that can’t protect themselves.
* When God leads me into such situations, as He sometimes has, He expects me to be prepared, and so I am.
* Self-defense is a God-given, natural, unalienable right.
* To fail to protect God’s greatest gift, the gift of life, is inexcusable.
* My life is worth far more to me, those that love me, and to a just society than the lives of vicious criminals and terrorists.
* The lives of the innocent—friend or stranger—are worth far more to me and to a just society than the lives of vicious criminals and terrorists.
* Three times in my life I have raised my right hand and sworn a solemn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. I have never betrayed those oaths and never will.
* By carrying my handgun, I honor the foresight and wisdom of the Founders in writing the Second Amendment.
–[snip]–
* I recognize that I am the weapon; the handgun is simply a tool.
* Foremost, I am an American; I am a free man; it is my tradition and heritage.

General Mattis suggests,
On occasion, a welcoming nod may be fine, but don’t say ‘nein’ to your hand on your ‘9’,
Amen.
Reading the complete article, I still don’t understand how the police are obligated to protect the community but not individual community members.
Are damaged, ‘Don’t Pee on Me’ signs on fire hydrants and lampposts of greater Importance?
I understand the real world constraints of resource availability.
Please use simple 4-letter words to clear my shallow, muddy mind. Thank you.
“I still don’t understand how the police are obligated to protect the community but not individual community members.”
================
I won’t speak for others but I don’t want them to pretend they are protecting me. Ever.
First, you are more than 13 times likely to be shot by a gov’t employee (LEO) than a fellow citizen. This is a fact based on police records spanning more than 20 years. Go look it up, start with “Professor John Lott” and his notorious book “More Guns, Less Crime”.
Second, the proper answer to “Why do I carry a firearm?”, is a mere 4 words.
“Because I want to.”
No other answer is deserved.
gs, thank you.
To be deserved it is always earned to be valued. Well done.
Turning the tables, one ought to ask, “why don’t you carry?”
An armed man is a citizen, and any other is a subject.
Carry on.
That is a serious helping of whup-ass she’s carrying there. Good on her for taking care of hers, making sure they get to grow up just like Momma.
That glock looks ‘shopped.
