“Weapons are the tools of power.

In the hands of the state, they can be the tools of decency or the tools of oppression, depending on the righteousness that state.
In the hands of criminals, they are the tools of evil. In the hands of the free and decent citizen, they should be the tools of liberty. Weapons compound man’s power to achieve whatever purpose he may have. They amplify the capabilities of both the good man and the bad, and to exactly the same degree, having no will of their own. Thus, we must regard them as servants, not masters–and good servants of good men. Without them, man is diminished, and his opportunities to fulfill his destiny are lessened. An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.” — Attributed to Col. Jeff Cooper [via Power Tools – waka waka waka]

It's worth remembering that Cooper, may he rest in peace, was also of the opinion that anybody who appeared in public with a weapon and wearing a mask should be assumed to be up to no good and worthy of being shot on sight.

Nobody gets to tell me what I can or can't have, and it would never occur to me to tell someone else what they can have or not.

The very gall of someone assuming they can do such a thing warrants lead in the head.

"The very gall of someone assuming they can do such a thing warrants lead in the head."

Yes. It should be remembered that good citizens are meant to be armed and still be seen and understood to be good citizens. Good citizens want to live good safe lives and their personal safety should be their own responsibility and based on their own judgement which is by default to be understood as living in peace and safety for themselves and for their part in society of others.

We all want to be happy and peaceful and safe.
No peaceful people want violence or conflict.
Peaceful citizens just want to protect their own security independent of government.

No Government can or will give you Peace, Security and Freedom. If Government offers you the first two, it is at the expense of Freedom.
No Government desires or appreciates Freedom
