Isn't it great that the Nobel Peace Prize winner in the White House has been able to keep this war just grinding along?

Happy 15th Birthday to America’s Endless War in Afghanistan
After 15 years, 2,385 dead U.S. soldiers, more than 20,000 wounded and hundreds of billions of dollars spent, the mission is unfulfilled. The war in Afghanistan is America’s longest and it seems it may never end. The Pentagon maintains just under 10,000 troops in the country. Those soldiers were supposed to come home in 2017 but now it looks as if American troops will be a permanent fixture of the Afghan landscape.

Your Say

Yeah, kinda like the thousands in Japan since WWII and all the hundreds of other places around the planet.

Just a few of the mindless criminal things you can do with unlimited stolen money.

FWIW, I'm not in the habit of paying for stuff I never bought and it's a rare day indeed when I let other people buy stuff in my name - in fact, I don't think I ever have.

You know, Korea, Japan, Germany, Afghanistan, etc., these are small prices to pay for continued stability. if we'd been smart enough, the same thing would have been the case for Iraq too, but someone had to use the circumstances to leverage it for re-election. It's a lot cheaper in the long run than letting the Weimar Republic transition into the 3rd Reich and all that it brought humanity. These aren't so much occupation troops, but insurance as more stable circumstances evolve. Also, believe it or not - our troops are de facto ambassadors for western culture. These are wise investments when compared to alternatives, i.e. how you like those ISIS guys??

Very good comment Guaman but I have a hawkish personality and I sometimes despise how we wage our "wars". The only rules of combat should be to use whatever it requires to kill everything that even remotely looks like an enemy, even if you have to wipe everything and everyone out.

The idea should be to beat an enemy's ass so badly that the will to fight simply evaporates and he is forced to make nice. With the N. Koreans and all muslims you must destroy their will. Anything else is failure.

I'm a firm believer in the Wahlberg Doctrine: "If you ain't in it to win then get the hell out."
