“[Y]ou just can’t be too safe.”

Guns, Gorillas, Moon Missions: Overprotection Makes Us Less Safe
Once upon a time, it was understood that a certain degree of skill was necessary to survive upon the Earth, and arole of society was to provide people with those skills. Today, the emphasis is on reducing every possible source of danger so that people with greatly reduced skills can safely live upon it. What may be unrecognized in the shift is the degree to which this supposed idiot-proofingmay contribute to actually increasing the total hazard.

Your Say

More idiots prevented from demising themselves = more risks for the rest of us.

While you are laying in bed, ask yourself a few questions.
1) Who put the Sheetrock up on the bedroom ceiling at what sq ft cost?
2) Did they nail it, screw it or glue up there?
3) Were they illegals being paid under the table to finish the job fast to save money.
4) Should I move the bed?

Most likely they used 1-1/2" screws which in total saves time but will not last the long haul as the SYP swells and shrinks with humidity only 1-3/4" or more will hold up, and they better be coarse threads, square drive.

SYP = southern yellow pine

BTW, the only permanent cure for screw pops is to back every single one of them out and replace with the proper type, then re-mud, paint. Yeah, pain in the ass, but because they did not adhere to the universal building code requirement of (1) fastener every 8" along edges and 12" in the field, your job isn't as arduous as it could be.

Many screw pops are an indication of short screws and more than likely they used that cheap paper at the joints too, which causes bubbles and it too will need to be replaced. Use the yellow net stuff and 30 minute "hot mud" and it'll go faster.

Examine the corner beads close too. Cut corners know no limits ya know.....
