Joan Baez - Diamonds and Rust

Posted by gerardvanderleun at July 6, 2015 3:49 PM. This is an entry on the sideblog of American Digest: Check it out.

Your Say

She still alive? We owe it to her and Peter, Paul, and Mary for all the rallying songs of the Flower Power People.

She is (was?) a flaming commie so perhaps we don't owe her anything. She owes us for letting her live here.

Lovely song by a gifted artist. Truly. Without regard to politics. I cannot believe how we deprive ourselves of beauty when we see the world through the narrow prism of politics. She has a God-given gift. Thank you for posting this beautiful song.

It'd be a great question to ask Bob Dylan what his opinion is about Joans' song "Diamonds and Rust" - being that he seems to be its focal point.

Btw... Bob Dylan still owes rent to a nearby Landlord after he "took off east one morning, in the rising sun's red glow ..." ;)

Ah, but Nancy, politics was/is Joanies prism. She used her God-given gift to try to sing America in to Communism. She's no better than Hanoi Jane Fonda (ugh!). A pox on both their houses.

What makes the song good is that it is personal, not political. Too bad she didn't make a note of that.

Commies in this country bite the hand that feeds them.
I don't think Baez or any other lefty musicians share their rice bowl with anyone else.
