For the first time in our history we have a purely ideological party.

If you run as a Democrat, you are a Liberal.
There’s no party to give the Cult cover because the party is the Cult and the Cult is the party. If the people are turning on Liberals, it will bring down the Democratic Party, unless they shed the Cult, which is unlikely. Maps like this one and the fact that the Democrats control very few state houses now, suggest the Democrats are about to become a fringe party, based in a few coastal cities.

Your Say

which is exactly what the Dems and commentati were saying about the Republicans in 2008 when the map colors were much reversed from today.

One message both parties should acknowledge is that we voted 'em in and we can vote 'em out.
Whether the ones in office will be any good or not remains to be seen.
Oh, by the way, any of the candidates that got in or out did so without any help from the Libertarians. It seems they always stand around with their hands in their pockets criticizing everyone else, like capons in the henhouse.
Which reminds me of something my uncle would say.
My uncle Louie Lozko, we all called him "Letsgo Lozko", he raised bantam chickens. He always said "A capon is only good for the stew pot."

I don't buy the "fringe party" wishful thinking either. I get that the Democrats are on the ropes, and also that they exposed themselves for what they have become.

But bear in mind that the great center of the American voting public is very volatile, and shift their sentiments often.

Unfortunately the Republicans will have to take the hit for all of the last six years' bad decisions.

"It was Bush's fault" worked for them but "It is Obama's fault" won't cut it for Repubs.

The Dems will do as much as they can to obstruct Repubs. Passive-aggressive behavior is the least of it.

Dems are looking forward to 2016 and cutting losses until then.

There are four or five Senators that can force McConnell to bitch slap the Donks out of that Passive-aggressive behavior right fast.

For a veto proof vote the GOP needs eight Donk votes. after that whupping and given some of the votes coming up, there just might be some of those of a furtive character to look to their next election.

Especially when their voting record is going to be used to beat them to death in '16.
