“One of the most serious things happening now is people like Korean food now.

Clearly that funk zone, the rot zone, the kimchi zone
people have learned in their lifetimes to like. People are learning to like liver and kidneys. They’re learning to enjoy textures that would have been profoundly repulsive to them earlier in their lives.”
Anthony Bourdain’s Theory on the Foodie Revolution

Your Say

My uncle Letsgo Lozko raised bantam chickens.
He spent the early fifties getting frozen feet and killing Koreans.
He'd rather eat Spam.

I wonder if Mr. Bourdain has ANY concept of tradition, and the economics, climate, and history that necessitated them?
Now that BK is enveloping their fare with the lie of "You go girl", the crush of folks DEMANDING kidney pie at the local is BOUND to flourish...RIGHT?

Hunters will often feed their hunting dogs the guts of a rabbit or bird, while in the field. I never knew the reason for the practice but I've seen it done….letting the dogs eat "the lights:.

Livers and kidneys and other internal organs filter waste and unless you simply have a taste for the bizarre there is no real reason to eat them. It's a bad choice all the way around.

The lede to this piece says it all:

It won’t be surprising if cultural historians look back on the first two decades of this century as The Era of Crazed Oral Gratification.

The obsession with what you put in your mouth, and the compulsive blather about it, is directly analogous to the apparent need of neurotic homosexuals to constantly remind tout le monde, by thought word, and deed, that they're cocksuckers. Je me just don't care.

Foodies are deeply, deeply fucked up individuals.

Next Bourdain will be down at the local SPCA dining on the dogs that are headed to the terminal room. Oh so heavenly, a morsel of mutt followed by a piece of Pomeranian...then he regale us with pickled cat tongues and uterae. Get your rice bowls and tune in!

I actually like the sane parts of Korean food.
Also old Tony. He's ok and would never eat dogs. Don't be silly.
