The Cold Ashes of Republican Foreign Policy

We keep digging ourselves in deeper. Now Sen. John McCain wants American military aid for Ukraine.
This is silly: the Ukrainian military couldn’t fight Russia with a century of American reinforcement, and every officer of the rank of colonel and above previously served in the Red Army. More than half of Americans oppose even economic aid to Ukraine while three-quarters oppose military aid–and they’re right. We’re all bluster and no bucks: try to come up with an aid package that will keep Ukraine upright given the mood of the American public. - - Spengler

Your Say

There's really no good response to Russia taking over Ukraine, as wrong and awful as it was. The thing that confuses me is why bad guys don't do this kind of thing more often Nobody would lift a finger if, say, Egypt took over part of Ethiopia. Or China took over Taiwan. Or Australia took over New Zealand.

If you take over the right kind of area, there's not even a significant cost or problem with rebels. Many people living in Crimea don't really care if they're under Russia or not as far as I can tell.

Somebody should just box up that demented McCain and ship his retarded ass on over to Ukraine and be done with him.

We now live in the era of perpetual politicians - they get in and NEVER get out, just keep getting recycled over and over.

McCain needs to retire, plain and simple.

Thank you for your service Senator. Please accept this Timex gold plated watch as thanks for all you've done".

Vlad has taken us a big step backwards into the days of the cold war. Of course Barry the Feckless made it all possible. If the Russians and Ukrainians go at it, the likelyhood of it spreading west is great. We'll feel the ripples in the pond even on this side of the Atlantic. FRAC baby FRAC.

Even if the U.S. were to send significant military forces to the area and actually engage, you can bet restrictive rules of engagement would preclude a positive or victorious outcome.

Putin won't be stopped by sanctions and Obama won't be stopped by poll numbers or explanations from us.

McCain would make a good gas station attendant for a country masquerading as a gas station. Go...Now please.
