Just another American town....

model-town_2820900b.jpg

US army builds fake city to shoot at during training: The 300 acre 'town' includes a five story embassy, a bank, a school, an underground subway and train station, a mosque, a football stadium, and a helicopter landing zone.

Your Say

The Army has been building and using these kinds of facilities for a very long time. So this is not a new concept.

What is new is that the AWC is so American in design and layout. IMO, it is already obsolete because it does not resemble the urban environments that the Army is likely to be fighting in for the far foreseeable future. The odds of the Army fighting in a First World, Euro-American type city are very remote.

So why this facility? Now you understand why the conspiracy theorists say its purpose is to prepare the Army to crush domestic unrest or rebellion at the behest of the Democrat regime.

And the real question is why this should be disbelieved.

Nice to see they were able to find and re-employ Bwarney Phrank to do the narration of the clip, or was that his sister Ann?

Donald, If it has been going on forever why limit it to the democrats? The ruling class, the government, it doesn't belong to a political party.

In reading the article, it talks about;

the future use of the military as a peacekeeping force within the United States written by a retired Army Colonel depicted a shocking scenario in which the U.S. Army is used to restore order to a town that has been seized by Tea Party “insurrectionists”.... plans for the military to carry out “Civil Disturbance Operations” during which troops would be used domestically to quell riots, confiscate firearms and even kill Americans on U.S. soil during mass civil unrest.... prisoners will be processed through temporary internment camps under the guidance of U.S. Army FM 3-19.40 Internment/Resettlement Operations, which outlines how internees would be “re-educated” into developing an “appreciation of U.S. policies” while detained in prison camps inside the United States.... soldiers are also being taught by their superiors that Christians, Tea Party supporters and anti-abortion activists represent a radical terror threat, mirroring rhetoric backed by the Department of Homeland Security which frames “liberty lovers” as domestic extremists.... former Navy SEAL Ben Smith warned that the Obama administration is asking top brass in the military if they would be comfortable with disarming U.S. citizens, a litmus test that includes gauging whether they would be prepared to order NCOs to fire on Americans.... During a recent Ohio National Guard exercise, second amendment proponents were portrayed as domestic terrorists as part of a mock disaster drill.

De-humanization of the enemy is always the first step towards violence against them.

I grew up in Ohio. I lived a half hours drive from Kent State University. I was in high school when the National Guard shot four students. I have not forgotten the sentiment at the time. Many said their only regret was that more weren't shot. The media falsely (as always)reported they were rioters, filthy, violent, etc.. Always de-humanize the enemy. While I'm sure that element was present, those who had the misfortune to be shot were simply going to class.

I don't doubt for a second that in some future scenario American troops would be ordered and comply with shooting civilians. After Kent State, the Move fiasco in Philly in the 70's, Ruby Ridge, Waco, Rainbow Farm does anyone have any doubt?

After watching video taken of the capture of the surviving Boston Marathon bomber, where our law enforcement personnel made folks leave their homes, at gunpoint, then entered, all without a warrant or probable cause of any sort, but simply to obtain a better vantage point to shoot at the boat he was hiding in. (It was obvious from the video that protection of civilians was not the priority.) Do we have any doubt?

We are living in post-constitutional times. We have been for a while now. The facade is finally slipping. I hope that it's not too late to turn back the tide of state socialism. We shall see. If after this fall's election, if the democrats still control the Senate, or if the democrats are routed but we do not see real and substantive reforms, you will be left with no doubt that the game is over and freedom and individual rights as defined in our constitution no longer exist.

"Creating solutions for which there aren't presently problems?" In anticipation that there will be problems? Like from those crazy TEA Party crazies? Naw, that's pure paranoia. Isn't it ?

Well it doesn't need to be American, it could be a lot of other places but yes, it does have a disturbingly US vibe with the signs and buildings.

This and the massive militarization of police departments combined with weaponizing of agencies and the Clinton era change in oath for the military is really disturbing.

And Tim: the students at Kent State were tearing up the campus, burning things and shouting threats at the National Guard. The Guard almost certainly overreacted (although the audio reveals someone shot what sounds like a pistol before they opened fire - was it an officer or a student?) But the media wasn't lying about the students.

Why not use one of the abandoned areas of Detroit and save some money.

Do they really need to practice hitting a church?

Christopher,
You said, "the students at Kent State were tearing up the campus, burning things and shouting threats at the National Guard."

The Guard fired 67 shots into an unarmed crowd in the space of 13 seconds. Are you implying you're o.k. with that?

You are correct in that the guard overreacted.
You are partially correct in that the students were tearing up the campus. Many of the violent demonstrators were not students. I can attest to that with my own eyes. We skipped school a couple of days before the shooting & went to check it out.
As far as those who were killed, two were simply walking to class and not at all involved in the 'protests.' A third (Allison Krause) was an honor student who also was not involved. One student who was, threw a tear gas canister back at the Guard.
Shooting at other human beings is something that should only be done if one is in serious and immediate danger and there is no other option to prevent (your)death or injury.
This type of violence is never acceptable, regardless of whether it comes from those on the left, or right.

That is some shit.

The narrator's speech impediment and yet very erudite and good diction is an example of what makes the military so fantastic in America. Opportunity and excellence combined. Bravo for her!

The only thing that worries me is the flagrant abuse of The Posse Comitatus Act and lawless acts of our administration. The army, however, is sound and I won't worry until they change the oath.

The urban setting is meant to represent an American city. This fact is obvious when one examines the road signage employed, specifically the railroad crossing warning signs. Those RXR-type signs are used only in the USA; outside of America, railroad crossings are marked by triangular white signs with red rims and a glyph representing a railroad track in their centers.

"It can't happen here"? Don't kid yourselves. For every Oath Keeper in the US military who would never shoot a civilian there are 10,000 William Calleys who will hose you and your kids down with bullets and bun your house down around you, all without batting an eyelash. "Look, asshole, if it was an unlawful order, it wouldn't've come down the chain of command. Now you can either light up this bunch of right-wing nut jobs or I can shoot you in the f---ing head. Your choice."

Posted by: B Lewis at February 15, 2014 8:11 PM

The actions of the Left tell me they have no problem stomping on The Posse Comitatus Act when it suits them. Also, it is my understanding that the oath has been changed slightly.

The local police no longer are trained to think on the street but to 'go by the book, lest they be sued by some froot loop who didn't like getting tased.

The Feds could have arrested Koresh in town at many different times but chose not to do so. Ruby Ridge another cock-up by the Feebs, all over something that was entrapment.

Why not use one of the abandoned areas of Detroit and save some money.
No, the purpose of this exercise is to oppress the Honkies and the Christians, not the Brothers and others down for the struggle.
There are insufficient number of the former in Detroit.

B Lewis: That's a pretty accurate comment.

One more thing: The Nuremburg Defense. There a lot of LE and mil who are just riding the job until pension. Same for the civilian agencies. If they don't do the shooting themselves they will just look the other way. They won't make waves.

That quote "...look assholes..." my handlers talked the same way forty years ago. The mentality never changes.
