Every Time

Every time we have pulled the lid off the human desire to govern our own affairs, to be free of government - we've had a renaissance of some kind.
We've had a social -renaissance, we've had a political renaissance, an artistic renaissance. Every time in history we've unleashed this, we've gone forward by leaps and bounds. So I'm saying, "All right, this is what history says to me. So why don't we do it again?" -- FRANK HERBERT

Your Say

"Liberals" would rather destroy that which they hate than fix what they have if their enemy might benefit.

One sociologist on NPR explained it as "malignant envy." Liberals would rather make $50k as boss of $25k peons than be a $100k employee with a $200k boss. The single fact you must understand about liberals is preserving their "superiority" is the only important thing to them. Being better off in every way, but not recognized by others as superior, is their worst nightmare. They actually would rather live in a Mad Max apocalypse with them in charge than live in the land of milk and honey as an undistinguished worker bee.

The above idea is why it is the absolute worst possible tactic to try and change liberal minds by arguing their plan will cause problems for us, them, the country or the universe. The results never matter to liberals, who is having to live by who's rules is what matters. Think of an ex-wife selling the family home for $100 dollars to spite the husband. It's more important that the husband be screwed than she has now become homeless. Liberals are like this country's ex-wife with an army of expensive lawyers.

When you respond to a liberal proposal by stating "that won't work" all you do is signal to the liberal that you are still playing checkers while they play knockout.

Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress tells a story about the colonists, or rebels, sorry I don't recall, that take over the moon and gain freedom from the Earthlings. Maybe a modern day enactment of the original Revolution would have smart ambitious freedom-loving hard working folks getting up there and starting over with a clean slate. Hmm, reading back over it I seem to have excluded all the commies and liberals - ach, I repeat myself. Our nation has no space program anymore and the private sector has the wherewithal to do it. Kind of a space version of Rawles' book Patriots.

The only way to truly create that free society is to kill off all liberals. Total extirpation of all thoughts and writings pertaining to such nonsense.

that probably means getting rid of religion too.

@Peccable: Then you become that which you loathe.

My solution?
Let them expire of their own devices completely unaided. Their path is one of self destruction.

The action suggested in you guys' comments will yield negative results. As fanciful and sci-fi and wish/dream as the moon thing sounds, think about it:

1 - we can't purge our society of the rot without bringing down the entire society, and ourselves down to that undesirable level.

2 - We can't live and let live with any quality of life.

Theoretical solution? Get up and get out, lock stock and barrel. Let the dead bury the dead, to paraphrase loosely. Start fresh, clean slate, so forth.

In reality, either purging or fleeing requires action and will never get started. Inertia and apathy are firmly embedded throughout our society. The "do nothing" path is what we are on and will continue to be on until the wheels start coming off. At that point it will be every man for himself as we scramble for our bug out holes to hide in.

Peccable, because a free society only happens when all the rules of the right are strictly followed and if any of those strict rules are broken execute the person that breaks the rules. To you that sounds like freedom?

Do you statist ever listen to yourselves?

@ScottM: your observation about liberals also holds true for observant Muslims. They would rather live in a Sharia shithole (but I repeat myself) because they're in charge than in a secular paradise because they're not. This helps explain why there are so many shitholes in the Muslim world.
