It is remarkable how well women understand women, and how little men do. The women who might be expected to educate us, our mothers, have never seemed inclined to do so. This is proof of a conspriracy. My mother denies it, but of course she would.

Mothers who teach their sons the wrong way have Momma's Boys for a reward. Some things can't be taught by a woman. My husband, in the first years of our marriage was keen on his Momma's approval. Fortunately for him, she was always a big disappointment, too deeply into toking with her aging hippie friends to care.
