Prayer Over Coffee

Fossil fuel of my soul
Black light of my veins
Course through me
Quicken me

Sharpen my senses
Dull my pain
Deepen the penetrating gaze

Your Say

You've heard of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, of course.

Did you know there's an American Coffee Ceremony? It is performed thusly:

1) Brew your first cup of the day, and pour it into a vessel of your choice;

2) Lift the vessel in the direction of the rising sun;

3) Take your first swig; and

4) Loudly exclain, "GOD, I needed that!"

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion,
It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed,
The hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning,
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
