"Spoiler alert! Living in San Francisco with her gay male BFF blogging the existential ennui of being unmarried was my tip-off."

How exactly do we know, from the photo, that she is on the political left rather than right?  Seriously.  Here is her blog and profile.  Here is her Twitter feed.  How do we know?  And that we know — should it make you less confident in your own political beliefs?  WWRHS? -- Assorted links -- €” Marginal Revolution

Your Say

She's a "project matchmaker"? Don't they call that a "D-Girl" in Hollywood?

I guess that's a she....

My tip-off was what Tim Blair called the "head tilt". That, and the phony disarmed "sincere" expression, looking directly at the camera. Look at posed portraits of lefties and see how you spot that look. It's uncanny.

My wife looks a bit like that, and she is a hard right winger who only watches Fox news. Go figure.

Yes, there can be variations from the norm, but the norm to this look is MOONBAT!

Posted by: vanderleun at February 3, 2012 11:13 PM

I can see the glint of fervent zealotry in her eyes. Takes one to know one. If she was dressed nicely, she'd be Christian. Dressed beautifully, Jewish. Covered up, Muslim. Dressed down as she is, she reeks of Social Justice with the word from on high. Definitely leftist IMHO.

Or, I could just be projecting.

I think we're seeing the current version of the Miss Jane Hathaway model from The Beverley Hillbillies.

She's Hathaway from 'The Beaverly Sillibillies'.

Well.... I spent some time browsing through her blog and all I can say is "sad...... very, very sad".

Reading through snipits of her blog, disaster area!

The thing is, because females are mutable they are also far more adaptable then men. If Rome were sacked and she were carried off by Vandals, life would continue, literally.

I don't necessarily believe you can tell her political affiliation just by looking at her, but I would note one thing: most of the Leftist women I know have a tendency to try to look as young as possible, to the point of wearing clothes and styles that are somewhat too young for them.

Gay-dar, Jew-dar ... Lib-dar?

The comments over at Marginal Revolution were great. They gave me an even greater appreciation for the genius that is Steve Sailer.

Hangtown Bob - Don't you just love the fact that she has lived with her BFF gay man for several years? Then she wonders why she hasn't met a straight man.

As I said on the other blog, I'm atypical for rightwingers, I guess, since I have short hair, never married (never wanted to be), never had kids (never wanted any. One more thing: the stereotype of "old liberal chick" used to be one of those hippie types with long hair (worn loose like a young girl no matter the woman's age) long skirts, lots of beads, oozes over kids... I dunno when it changed.

Her blog reads like it should have been posted on E-Harmony.

Peccable saw what I was seeing - Miss Jane Hathaway. Only she had a crush on big, dumb Jethro.

Miss Jane was not gay - just very upper-crust, cultured, snooty, and all of that. (The last gasp of that old stereotype, when you think about it.)

Twice? Ooops.

Andrea - you forgot the cats.

(BTW - you used to do the Twisted Spinster blog, right? That was always good.)

The instant I looked at the photo, I thought: "Ahhh, kripes, it's One of Them." How did I know? The beatific, earnest look on her face combined with non-religious garb.

If you saw that look on a nun in habit, you would think: "Oh, a woman of God." If you see that look on a woman in a crappy t-shirt showing off her desiccated clavicals and upturned breasts, you think: "Oh, a woman who despises God."

She has the human equivalent of the bright colors of a poisonous toad.

Gray,
Thank you so much, the last line is going in my collection of Best Put Down's.
