Your Say
Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day, it's nor even a major holiday.
It's a small, local celebration of a Mexican win against the French in one minor battle.
Who celebrates whooping the Frogs, anyway?

It's an excuse to drink.
If someone made a push we'd celebrate Australia Day (January 26) for the same reason.

What Frisco said.
The day was called a "holiday" by the beer companies. No surprise there.
The actual Mexican Independence Day ("Grito de Dolores") is September 16.
