EU to ban selling eggs by dozen

Under the draft legislation, to come into force as early as next year, the sale of groceries using the simple measurement of numbers will be replaced by an EU-wide system based on weight. It would mean an end to packaging descriptions such as eggs by the dozen, four-packs of apples, six bread rolls or boxes of 12 fish fingers.

And the average yerp must find this insane as well, but seem incapable and unwilling to do anything about it. I wish they'd sew their balls back on and bring back the guillotine, torches, and pitchforks.

I usually don't do this, but let me just point out a typo in your post. Obviously, instead of "draft legislation" the actual quote must surely have been "daft legislation."

"but seem incapable and unwilling to do anything about it"

Incapable indeed. The kleptocrats in Brussels and Strassbourg are not elected by anyone, instead appointed by themselves.
This has been created by our nominally elected leaders who for decades now have utterly ignored the will of the people and the results of the ballot box, which they're able to do because the US Army at the end of WW2 completed the total disarmement of the European civilian population which had been started by the Germans in WW2.
