No Quality in Equality:
"So far is it from being true that men are naturally equal, that no two people can be half an hour together, but one shall acquire an evident superiority over the other." -- Samuel Johnson

Your Say

The obvious inequality among people should lead us to question our understanding of the phrase, "all men are created equal." Unfortunately, many have concluded the phrase is a lie, rather than what Jefferson intended it to mean. That is, that all people are created in God's image and are therefore of immeasurable worth while also possessing a fallen nature. The latter was/is the root of American conservatism (and in this I include the Revolution): the people must be self-governed because no man can be trusted with unconstrained power.
