The Apocalyptic Headline Haiku of Matt Drudge

Love him or loathe him, Matt Drudge has turned headline writing into sheer poetry. Not only in one item or another but across his whole page. At any minute on any day a glance at The Drudge Report gives you a feeling for the planet's beat as played on the keyboard by Matt. He's the Miles Davis of the media.

Take tonight's example wherein Drudge the Bard sums up how our Neros fiddled about while Rome burned. One can only hope they were all in residence when the device ignited.

Some surviving historian spider in a far distant age will exhume a text file of all Drudge's headlines and be able to read an up-to-the-final-minute-of-the-final-hour record of exactly why and how and when it all went smash.

Footnote: Send in a "tip" and you get, just for a few brief flashing seconds, this bold and assertive reply:

More blunt, rough beast poetry.

Come, now, Gerard! Anyone who's anyone in Hollywood and in the press smirks with insufferable superiority at the name of Drudge...much as they did at the name of Noah, not too many years ago.

Uh-oh! You're going to be in trouble now, sir.
Referring to Obama as a Nero?
At least you didn't use the adjective "uppity"...
