And they were right!

What I meant, is that both things are happening, at the same time.

The government works to conceal the truth (witness the lack of understanding of the Obamacare bill monster) and under a barge of media distractions, we don't go reading the bill ourselves.

Ditto with pain: who can listen to Pelosi talk? She should be considered a form of torture!

Much better to switch over to something with celeb gossip, etc.

Hence, my statement that both were right.

Yeah, it's Friday and I'm just letting the clock run out, thankyouverymuch.

I got exactly what you meant the first time, but thanks for expanding.

I first read both books in the late '50s at about age 14. I was convinced at the time that Huxley's vision was the more frightening, although it's a tossup.

And I agree Russell got it the first time.

I saw that was his desire, but we can take it the way we want it.

Me. I'm in for the hi-test blend: Brave New 1984

Yeah, let's trivialize what's happening to us so we can go back to sweet dreaming while the world falls apart. We'll learn how it works in a few years, yeah?

Humm, such angst, such timor, such mortis.

The world's been falling apart since the first day of creation.

The corruption of the government and the complete indulgence in the pleasures of life to the exclusion of all things are not just government issues, and they are never simply traced to one party or political idea. These are human errors, though with the internet it is becoming much harder for misinformation to become as prevalent as before. However this is for the most part a indulgent and pleasure seeking society. Just pick a drug, even if that drug is sex or food. No matter what it is, the end result will only get worse as we become more mechanized and increasingly loose track of our identities and our connection to one another.
