Another new tactic I am going to adopt is the one I saw recently where a right-thinking guy was being interviewed, and his rejoinders were to ask questions back. I thought it brilliant. We have to frame the argument, because the way the left frames issues is insane-making. Nobody cares about the environment or racism anymore. That boat has departed.

Casey that is good. Asking questions is smart. It shifts burden and pressure to Lefty. Also recognize in the discussion, if anyone is listening they are the audience. You can't change Lefty's mind. The goal is to show others 1) you can challenge Lefties & live. 2)there are answers to Lefty attacks. 3)others are not all Left. "You are not alone" to other Conservatives within earshot.

I learned much by reading Christian Apologetics books, websites. Don't just have faith your views are true. Learn the proofs for your view and how to defend. Many Christians, Conservatives like Bubble Boy. Do well until they come in contact with a germ.

I will post a 1 hour video of Ben Shapiro giving 10 points to arguing with Leftists. Also Steve Deace has good book Rules For Patriots, a conservative version of Alynski. Never accept the Left's premise. Go on offense. Don't speak in indirect words & moderate language.

As well as asking questions in return, it's always useful to employ "Active Listening," which I learned working in psychiatric hospitals. A middle-aged psych nurse with years of experience likened it to listening to the tune, not the words. What are they really trying to communicate?

The words of a leftie are designed to obfuscate, and if you respond in a logical fashion you've already lost. But what is behind the statement or question posed to you by a leftie? How often do you have the realization that there's only one possible answer, and that the only possible answer leaves you looking like an asshole? How about just changing the name of the game by asking in return "What is it that you hope to accomplish by asking loaded questions? Don't you realize that everyone here is listening to you try to run a game on me? Do you really think I'm going to help you back me into a corner by responding to your bullshit?"

Et cetera.

Do some reading about counseling training; being a shrink is all about hearing what's being said, and not being distracted by the rhetoric. I can pretty much guarantee you that this technique will inspire foaming at the mouth among "liberals."

Why is it important to argue with Lefties? Because others around them gain from confronting Lefties. The goal is seldom to convert the Leftist but to give an example to anyone within earshot. Give yourself practice in challenging leftists. It also reinforces your confidence in your views. Most importantly, you have to shatter the illusion The Left is 10 feet tall & invincible. Not fighting back is surrender. Our ideas mean nothing if they influence nobody.

Back in the alt.impeach.clinton.whitewater newsgroup days, some 16-18 years past, I did as you described and actually did change 1 liberal, a guy named krow, and he thanked me for turning on the light. I'll never forget it.

But there have been thousands of times since where my words were wasted and now I see no more use in it. From here on out I go straight for the jugular and that's it. For a young buck like yourself, have at it, knock yourself out. Maybe you'll be successful where I failed over and over.

Always refute the generalities:

"It's obvious that...."
"You must agree that..."
