A field mouse was trapped in our bathtub (we live very remotely, in a farmhouse surrounded by fields…and mice) and 3 of our cats were toying with it for I think a couple of hours. My wife and my daughter would not let me kill it; they wanted it released, and so I took the brave critter outside and released it. In the same week, a coyote was utterly destroyed at long range from the north porch. The circle of life, I guess.
Reparations? I’m all for that, but begin with the descendants of Civil War Union veterans. They carried the burden for righting slavery. Something tells me my suggestion would be a pin to the brain for the average SJW. Good that.

General Marshall did a top to bottom re-orientation of the armed forces, especially the army, going into WW II. He fired lardy generals, and advanced younger, meaner and smarter officers on a fast track. He implemented innovative force structures that the hide-bound military would not ever consider as necessary. And, George Marshall did not graduate from West Point.

I am a huge fan of extinct civilizations that left no continuations. Byzantine, Maya, Inca. A few years ago I was lucky enough to travel to Peru and tour many Inca sites. Of course we went to Machu Pichu, it is spectacular. But, Machu Pichu was just a vacation home for the Sapa Inca (Inca Emperor). Cusco was the Capitol. There are number of places in Cusco where the ashlar stone walls of the Inca still stand.
One of the most spectacular is the Coricancha, (a/k/a Koricancha, Qoricancha, or Qorikancha), which before the Conquistadors, was the Temple of the Sun. The Conquistadors, of course, stole all of the gold plating and statuary. And the structure was heavily damaged by the fighting during the Conquest. The wooden roof and superstructure of the temple burned during that episode. Later the Spanish built a church using the stone walls as its foundation. Major earthquakes severely damaged the church on several occasions, but the Inca walls stand undamaged to this day.
I should add that the Inca Empire was enormous. it ran for 2500 miles from Ecuador to the middle of Chile, and included modern Peru and Bolivia. It was assembled and run without the benefit of writing or of money.

I had two great-great-grandfathers who volunteered for service in one of Pennsylvania’s German-speaking regiments. They were recent immigrants, too, but thought they owed their adopted country their loyalty for giving them a chance for a better life (farms of their own) than they would have had back in Niedersachsen.
I’d also like to ask Angela Merkel to fork over reparations for my dad’s combat stress fighting the Wehrmacht from North Africa to Ludwigslust (the German town where he was on V-E Day). He was far from the only vet whose postwar lifespan was shortened by his wartime experiences.

A cave man slammed a cave woman then dragged her by the hair to his lair and raped her repeatedly then told her to go make him a sandwich and a million years later I was born. That history triggered me and now I want some payback!
A small woods rat got in one of my workbench drawers in the shop. It some how pulled a bunch of insulation out of the wall and made a nice, comfy winter crib for itself. I took everything out of the drawer, leaving only the insulation, then I put in a mouse trap with a tasty smear of gouda. Next morning the smear was gone and trap was not tripped. Tricky. I installed a sticky trap and the next morning el mouse-o was snared. Right out to it’s funeral pyre in the burn barrel. Yesterday morning I looked in that drawer again and the now smearless trap had been tripped by mouse 2. It’s on the pyre. Put another sticky trap in the drawer. Haven’t looked in there yet today. I dislike killing stuff but when I have no choice…
When you put wimminz in the military it is no longer the military, but something else.
Male soldiers stop shooting weapons and shoot guns instead.

Reparations? For those who demand them and believe that society owned them something for whatever happened to their ancestors that they cannot name or identify: No, No and Hell No.
Over 700K men from both sides, who had absolutely no investment in slavery one way or another, died to help end the practice and just like Jesus, those deaths paid the price for slavery. Blacks are a fatal pox on every civilization in which they exist. They invent nothing, they write little or nothing of value and they contribute even less to the unfortunate society that keeps them from the cradle to the grave. As life long wards of the State they’re too dull to understand anything related to personal success and they don’t really care as long as their cancerous culture provides them with its heepin’ helpin’s of despair. F the World, success with their culture is the goal and anyone who doesn’t like that path is a racist and a bigot.
But society should demand reparations from blacks for the degradation upon society for their refusal to engage in the society that is killing itself to educate and assist them and for their contributions of mass illegitimacy, for overcrowded prisons that bulge with low IQ violent thugs who will never be anything but what they are, for over crowded ghettos where the population grows more rapidly than that of the fat rat that was stuck in the manhole cover and who, like that rat, require the efforts of many to maintain each individual, for the daily episodes of violent crime on Any Street, USA and for their continuous non-stop bitching.

Casey, Years ago while living with an uncle in the sticks, we had mice all over. We’d shoot them in the house with a BB gun. Glue traps used by the train load. One mouse also got into the bathtub. I shooed him into a plastic grocery bag then too him outside. I swung the plastic bag a couple revolutions and stopped it abruptly onto the deck. Then a drop off at the burn pile.
Last coyote I engaged was dropped was at about 60-70 yards with a Stevens Favorite Rifle. I meowed like a cat and he came in. He stopped quartering toward me a moment too long.

My daughter had white rats as pets, but that thing stuck in the manhole cover is a sewer rat, carrier of pestilence.
My first thought for a solution was a pitching wedge. It’s easily cleaned.
