True but Forbidden 19: The Tree of Life vs Death by Selfie

Tree of Life “Tree Root Cave” features a tree like no other. Still breathing while its roots travel to nowhere. Erosion, having taken away its life supply, has not stopped the tree from thriving on the coast and leaving people speechless from a sight that has never been seen before.

Sense of Events: Jesus and history Jesus’ existence is better attested in ancient sources than that of Julius Caesar – but no one claims Julius was not a real person. Also, the earliest written reference to Alexander the Great dates 400 years after Alexander is said to have lived. Yet no one says Alexander was not real.

Precious little is known of many characters we hold in history, and yet God has given us volumes of data on Biblical things by comparison. Some mention of Julius Caesar: 4 books detailing Jesus’ actions and words. Place a scale there: the Savior is very heavy and the ancient famous are feathers. You consider Christians oafish and ignorant of knowledge. Holy fucking mistake! Libraries, universities and scholarship abound for 2 millennia on the study of the things of Christianity (history, theology, ministry, natural and medical science, arts, learning) and by comparison the liberal arts are a puff of wind.” — Comment here by Klahn

The three colors of martyrdom | Dreher points out that a senior librarian at MIT openly regards ‘white’ books as a waste of space and a legacy of oppression. Her article in the Association of Research Libraries argues the challenge now is to “build diverse and inclusive library environments that contribute to social justice. Library collections continue to promote and proliferate whiteness with their very existence and the fact that they are physically taking up space in our libraries. They are paid for using money that was usually ill-gotten and at the cost of black and brown lives. In the case of my current place of employment, the university definitely makes money off of the prison industrial complex and the spoils of war.”

Barr Is Right About Everything. Admit You Were Wrong. – The New York Times There are three types of people who promoted Russian collusion hoax. First, those who knew it was false all along, but promoted it for money, power, prestige or dopamine hits from Twitter high-fives. Second, the journalists who had a responsibility to dig into this story rather than just repeating what they hoped was true and what the story’s promoters were telling them.

Things are great in the US, and getting better Trump-haters are only left with ad hominems: “lizard brain,” “racist Hitler,” “ignorant thug,” whatever. As Adams (not a Trumper) says. My list:
– Fewer wars, more peace
– Tiger won the Masters
– Great economy, nobody without a job
– Prison reform
– A bit of sanity in the Dept of Education
– Calm with North Korea, heading in good direction
– Trade sanity with Mexico, and on the way with China
– Terrorism on the wane
– NATO nations headed towards paying their share

Who Was the Last Republican President The Media Respected? Teddy Roosevelt! He loved the press, and they him. Teddy gave frequent conferences, offered the media quarters inside the White House, and let them have run of the place. The Czar learned today that the press only ganged up on him over the Panama Canal; the Czar honestly cannot recall that being the case, but there you go. Teddy was the guy. He was the last American president that garnered respect from the media.

Sultan Knish: In the Coffee Shop at the End of the World with Beto O’Rourke In the hipster coffee shops, there is no god but the trend. The mass movement worships itself. The coffee shop is a celebration of yuppie consumerism infused with spirituality through the climate devil. Its leaders are narcissists who promise to save them from the apocalypse of the good life. That’s Bobby. Twelve years. Twenty-five years. Six years. It doesn’t really matter. The numbers create a sense of urgency in the latte section before the next art class.

Seattle is adding a Ballard Park bathroom for a mere $550,000. That makes it one of the few cities to cut the cost of a bathroom. But it’s a single occupancy bathroom known as a Portland Loo billed as the “perfect” public toilet which costs $90,000. But cities that buy them somehow always spend more.

The Most Modern of Modern Sports  With the ample quarantine space at Hackbridge Kennels, Hooku and Gandar-Dower began training the cheetahs immediately. They built a 100-yard track along the length of the compound, and hoisted an old Fiat car at the finish line with a specialized drum attached to the back wheels. From it they spooled out a long cable with a dead rabbit at the end, allowing the engine to pull the bait away at increasing speeds until the cheetahs would reliably chase after it.

Selfie Deaths Are an Epidemic Canadian rapper Jon James McMurray perished last October after crawling out onto the wing of a Cessna while filming a music video. Last October also witnessed the much-publicized deaths of travel bloggers Meenakshi Moorthy and Vishnu Viswanath, who apparently fell while taking a selfie at Yosemite’s Taft Point, a popular rock outcrop with an 800-foot drop. A month prior, Tomar Frankfurter, an 18-year-old from Jerusalem, also fell to his death in the park while reportedly taking a selfie at Nevada Fall. Last July, three stars of High on Life, a popular YouTube thrill-seeking adventure travel show, plummeted to their deaths at a waterfall near Squamish, British Columbia. And in late March, a man from Macau fell 1,000 feet to his death while attempting to take a selfie on the rim at Grand Canyon West.

The United States of America has lifted more people out of abject poverty, spread more freedom and democracy, and has created more innovation in technology and medicine than any other nation in human history. Not only that but our citizenry continually breaks world records with charitable donations, the rags to riches story is not only possible in America but not uncommon, we have the strongest purchasing power on earth, and we encompass 25% of the world’s GDP. The list goes on. However, these universal truths don’t matter. We are told that income inequality is an existential crisis (even though this is not an indicator of prosperity, some of the poorest countries in the world have low-income inequality), we are told that we are oppressed by capitalism (even though it’s brought about more freedom and wealth to the most people than any other system in world history), we are told that the only way we will acquire the benefits of true prosperity is through socialism and centralization of federal power (even though history has proven time and again this only brings tyranny and suffering).

On the resident goodness of creation………… With wine at hand, the good man concerns himself, not with getting drunk, but the drinking in all the natural delectabilities of wine; taste, color, bouquet; its manifest graces; the way it complements food and enhances conversation; and its sovereign power to turn evenings into occasions, to lift eating beyond nourishment to conviviality, and to bring the race, for a few hours at least, to that happy state where men are wise and women beautiful, and even one’s children begin to look promising.Vintage-Inspired Matchbox Art Features Tipsy Cat Characters in Bars

The Rise of the Tragedy Hipsters In an age of encouraged emotional incontinence, the cult of sentimentality rewards the victim. Glance over the Democratic candidates for president: each caters to a specific grievance group. Some are even brave (and venal) enough to try and cobble together a victim coalition. And this is what identity politics—the most primitive of political creeds—has bred. But there is hope. Even Bill Maher, squeamish priest of Tragedy Hipsterdom, accepts. Twitter isn’t the electorate. Maher and his ilk might provoke and prod, but the Woke tribe slicks dry at under 10 percent of Americans.

Good on Don for the post @ Jesus’ historicity.

The knuckleheads in academia discount the Bible out-of-hand, which is bringing a prejudice to their studies. Well and good; we all have preconceptions and any thesis will have an intellectual track going in.

Then comes the news: ancient and very-ancient era (meaning things deep into the Old Testament period) historic references of anything are thinner than thin.

Libraries, universities and scholarship abound for 2 millennia on the study of the things of Christianity (history, theology, ministry, natural and medical science, arts, learning) and by comparison the liberal arts are a puff of wind. I’m serious about that.

In the event of the burning of Notre Dame, and the harbinger it is said to be of the burying of Christianity, I almost wonder if the opposite might happen. The Dark Ages were politically and socially bleak, however faith in Christ was a burning and bright candle. Could this be the near future, too?

Wine….the mere sniff of the stuff makes me want to vomit. It’s the drink for women and effeminate men and to sit around an marvel at its tastes, color, bouquet or manifest graces…whatev’ the heck that is, is for the bored soul.

Beer’s are fine for burgers and fries, popcorn and chips on game day but nothing can come close to a well blended whiskey and if you’re going to drink it you need to learn to control it or it will control you.
It requires strength and balls to manage it and that is why pussified men, who yearn for approval, lean to wine.

Though I’ve drunk myself into oblivion thousands of times I never liked the taste of any of it. After about 4 of anything taste is a non-issue anyway. There are beers in the fridge right now that were purchased last August. Goes to show how much drinkin goes on around here. On our honeymoon 35 years ago I bought a $90 bottle of Moet Chandon and my wife refused to drink a drop. She ate a few drunken cherries at a New Years eve party a few years ago but other then that I never seen her drink any alcohol. Shits the devils poison.

As far as jesus, god, julius cesar, FDR, and hell, even Trump, I never seen any of them with my own eyes so they don’t exist and never have and I don’t give one shit what anybody else believes. I got more important stuff to be concerned with.

Selfies? Who cares? Jesus was historical: who cares? All these affirmations: who cares? I certainly don’t. Cheet, man, I did a bunch of stuff without self-affirming photos, may yet do some more, but I did it for my own satisfaction, focusing on that rather than a pictorial record meant to impress others or in the case of the Nazarene to affirm a metaphysical belief I don’t share. Why not go about one’s business without trying to notify the world what that business might be? Is external reinforcement truly necessary? This geezer thinks not.

Today, I saw my words up there with Rev. Sensing’s words. Very humbling.

Eco Loon walks. Very sweet and no wonder because his rhetoric sucks.

Hispster in a coffee shop sees her own navel. About gawdam time. We need more like this going forward into 2020. This is the generation that might sell us down the river while simultaneously paying for all of our healthcare, so-called.

Toilets at a half a mil? Fancy SF toilets filled with needles? I’ve re-thought my ideas on public loos. Going forward, we need to make them open air affairs. Users (meaning toilet-goers) will be free as a bird. If the homeless are at all self-respecting, they’ll clean up when they realize we’re all watching. With disgust. I realize my ideas are punitive, and contrary to Seattle City Council thinking. After I succeed in getting this in place, I’d like to see the Seattle councilman christen there loose loos.

Final thought: this post is internet gold just for the memes. Way to go, Mr. Vanderleun.

“Their loose loos,” of course. Although “There Loose Loos” would be a good name for the product.

I liked the rainbow on the tree picture. Kind of a nice “comment” by God.
