Something Wonderful: “Heavenly Father, please help us…”

Full Screen. Speakers up. At 00:50 you see the backside of the Welcome to Paradise sign seen below [HT: daily timewaster: The fires in Paradise]

UPDATE 1 — 23 NOW FOUND DEAD IN CAMP FIRE: Just released at this evening’s press conference by the Butte County Sheriff that the body count in the Camp Fire now stands at 23.

Given what I know about how this community is structured there will be more. Perhaps many more, Lots of folks live off the grid down dirt roads and are either retired, housebound, or very poor with little avenues of communication.

The fire is still a very large and very deadly thing. If it starts to come towards where you are in a SERIOUS manner get out.

UPDATE 2 — BUTTE COUNTY SHERIFF states in a press conference at this hour that the number of people reported missing is over 500. This DOES NOT MEAN that 500 are dead only that people cannot as yet locate the 500.

If this essay pleased or informed you DONATE HERE to help me recover after being burned out in the Paradise fire with my thanks.

That’s a gripping video. Glad for one happy outcome.

I will be thinking about those off-gridders. Some of them have grit, other nothing. All need our charitable thoughts. Damn. I mean: bless!

Why is it called Camp Fire with capital letters?

  • Vanderleun November 11, 2018, 5:37 PM

Good question. It started off the “Camp Road” in the outback of the far canyon. In California, CalFire traditionally names fires for the closest landmark to the fire’s origin. In this case, it was most likely started by a PG&E high tension cable exploded and showering sparks on the decades worth of dry tinder below.

It WAS NOT STARTED BY A CAMPFIRE MADE BY THE HOMELESS OR ILLEGALS.

    THIS IS A FALSE RUMOR.

Fire started next to a road named Camp Road.

    And that’s the fact.

    Jack.

Stunning video and a relief to see the family escaped. Same relief for you, Mister Vanderluen. Best to you and yours.
The current spew from the Propaganda Outlets (formerly network news) is “How DAAAARE Trump blame the fire on poor land management practices!!1!” but I suspect that is accurate. The recovery effort will strain resources already groaning under the load of the “gimme” culture so both the CA landscape and economy will be changed for generations.
Best to all on the future.

Thanks Gerard. I just came across the same thing on my weather app.
Since the gov’t requires all property owners to provide for public utility easement on their properties they would also require any utility using said easements to maintain them as to not endanger others. This is why you frequently see tree trimmers around here trimming the trees that are constantly growing into the powerlines. Exclusive privilege should be bound to exclusive responsibility, no exceptions.
