The baby-boomer collectors of toilet gags are apparently deaf to the clanging irony of their but-of-course dismissal of the uptight ’50s as the reason for the downfall of silly gags like joke boxes, almost in the same breath as their dismissal of much of the corny humor as being “in poor taste,” “racist,” etc. They and their generation are the source of the most boring and straitlaced era in American history.
