I’m starting to think Gerard wants a Killdozer all his own.

  • ghostsniper June 7, 2019, 4:32 AM

The shitty editing – the constant shifting of viewing angles – tried to ruin what might have been a decent video. There is so much retardation spread all over the place these days.

Do they offer options like armor plating and bullet-proof windows?

If so, I would like to order a fleet of 6 ….to start.

  • SteveP June 7, 2019, 4:49 AM

What I’d like is to see a video without the fast cut edits that make it all but incoherent.

  • Auntie Analogue June 7, 2019, 7:31 AM

I’d like one of something like that for the inconsiderati who block supermarket & Walmart aisles with their shopping carts or with the multiple bodies of their shopping companions.

And, @ ghostsniper & Steve P: yes, you two are right about today’s ubiquitous frenetic video editing. Another manifestation of that MUST BE IMPACTFUL mania is the nigh-universality of horrid synth drum-bashing audio that now dominates even PBS NOVA documentaries.

Just the thing for when Black Lives Matter blocks the highway.

  • leelu June 7, 2019, 8:01 AM

Auntie, Steve, & Ghost… so, let’s see you storyboards for it. How would you do it differently?

  • Vanderleun June 7, 2019, 8:12 AM

    Auntie Analogue: Yes, YES, YES!

I’m always a little suspect of what is going on in the minds of people who do these kinds of things and worse, those who enjoy it. It’s one thing to mount a cow catcher on the front of a truck and demolish a lot of crap, but the mere fact that he didn’t run that truck head first into a stationary D-8 Cat reveals his cowardice.

Jack’s got Vanishing Point on the brain.
When that Challenger crashed it was a 64′ Ford Galaxy hood that went flyin’.
    Go take another look.

  • Lance de Boyle June 7, 2019, 11:24 AM

I strap my wife, Lucretia de Borgia de Ball-buster de Boyle, face-front to the hood of my ’97 Honda, and everyone gets out of the way.
“Oh, Hell! Here she comes! Cheese it, Neddie.”

You can get the same effect by just giving any SUV driver a smartphone.

@leelu, I like longer takes, regardless of angle, and for a video of that caliber, at a distance of no more than 50 feet or so. Multiple camera views are OK but not ever 1.5 seconds.

When they do that stuff in a major film of late I attribute it to the notion that the actors are so poor at remembering dialog or delivering it convincingly so the directors and editors have no choice to film the thing piecemeal. 2 other annoyances of late are the uncalled for dim lighting, and this next one really riles me, all the retarded whispering that is in competition with too loud back ground music. I mean really. 2 manly doods standing there 5 feet apart and they’re whispering an entire conversation? It’s like the producer is intentionally trying to piss off the viewers. And they are successful. I have watched very few mainstream films for the past 10-15 years because they are mostly intolerable to me. Last weekend my wife and I watched John Wick and I was disappointed just as I figured I’d be. Gimme noirs from the 40’s when actors perfected their craft and cared more about the performance than the dollars. 3 cameras at most, l o n g runs of complex dialog and stories that worked.

Men. I DO love you, but honestly

  • 3chord master June 10, 2019, 2:58 PM

    ghostsniper,
You are spot on. In addition to your observations, for some time now there seems to be a requirement that a film contain a minimum number of obscenities. When the first five lines of a movie use f—- eight times, I know there is no good dialog. I quit watching there.

  • Snakepit Kansas June 11, 2019, 5:09 AM

Ghost said Vanishing Point! I saw that movie at my grandma’s house when I was a kid. I’d love to see that again.

Maybe for the next video that guy can try a bulldozer jump over a bunch of democrats.
