American Digest Illustrated 1: Clowns, California, and Birches

“..But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.”

I ran into a very attractive young lady at the gym a couple days ago wearing a red hat that said “Make Women Cum Again”. Rather a harsh message, but when you think about it, especially if you live in California, she has a legitimate bitch. Our school system pumps out soy boys like they’re free. Any way I googled the hat when I got home and it is a thing. Interesting times.

Growing up in rural Massachusetts, I swung on birches. They grow wild there in clumps, and its easy to get pretty high in a clump, grab a birch and swing down. After a while, well-abused birches are permanently bent.

We also went hunting for wild grapes in season.

None of that no more for nobody.

Here in Florida it was Australian Pines. There used to be a large stand of Australian Pines on A1A in Cocoa Beach about 2 miles south of SR520. We rode our bikes over from Merritt Island one day and we climbed those things. We were way up in the tops and then we leaned them over and went from tree to tree. Unfortunately for Carl he chose the wrong tree to come down. It was summer so all we had on was shorts and converses. Well the tree he decided to descend on was covered with poison ivy. We heard later that he lay in bed and screamed for three days. Ouch.

Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

    Boomers. You’re welcome.

I think I know the guy who painted that pastel scene. He wrote an article about me and two other artists for a magazine. I advise artists to never show a photo of their subject, but in some ways that picture within a picture is a bit more than the sum of its parts. Looking at looking. I hate realism but that’s my whole /engage with the culture don’t stand outside of it and piss on it/ soap box.

Urinating with elegance is one of those ships that left the dock a long, long time ago. Just sayin…

Hats: the Orwell one goes in my collection of best hats, along with the red one that says: “Hat Crime”.

    B_Rad: pictures!

Birch swinging’s fine but they’re few and far between.

One can travel farther grasping aspen.

Great rhyme by WH Auden! The summary of hate crimes was all too true. Enjoyed. Thanks.

Sad state of affairs idn’t it?
Cept that chalk pik, I likes it.
Who did it Casey? I might wanna buy it if the price is right.
I first thought it might look nice in the stairway, but it’s chalk, and that stuff is best viewed at a distance, like impressionist stuff. Maybe down at the far end of the living room would work.
Never mind, it’s Aaron Schuerr. https://aaronschuerr.com
