Why The Left Fears The Right, And Why The Right Will Win By John at Wilder Weathly and Wise

[Saturday Reading from Wilder. Yes it is long. But it is Saturday. Yes there are details that you can argue about. But it will make you feel better. Recommendo.]

* * *

When I was five or so, my parents had horses. One of the horses had a foal (baby horse for you city folk), and Pa Wilder brought the foal and the mare (momma horse) into the barn – it was brutally cold, and the barn was much warmer. They brought me down to see the foal. It was young and awkward as new horses are.

Inside the stall was a series of closely spaced rails in a square, about four feet by six feet.

I asked, “What’s that for, Pa?”

“Well, when the foal is in here, he’ll find that he can’t walk across the bars. His hooves won’t quite fit. That will train him so he won’t do that when he gets older.”

Even at five, I had seen cattle guards and knew cows wouldn’t try to cross them. But here was a horse.

“Won’t he try to jump over the cattle guard, Pa?”

“Some horses, the smart ones, will figure out and a cattle guard won’t work on them. But most don’t. Heck, you can just paint parallel lines on an asphalt road and some horses won’t try to cross them.”

The little training bars were a device, a device to train the horse that he was in a prison made up of parallel bars on the ground. In that, the horse restricted his own freedom.

In the last post (Money, Power, Politics, and Soros), I discussed the difference between Money and Power. I actually finished most of the last post before I wrote the conclusion. Money and Power as described through most of the post were entirely materialistic concepts. Ending it with just that discussion wasn’t right, since the theme of my writing is often to balance the material with the concepts of spirit and virtue. We live in a material world, but the reason we live is for a purpose greater than this moment.

Freedom isn’t important to either Money or Power; Freedom is actually the enemy of both Money and Power. Throughout most of recorded history in the West, when either Money or Power get too out of balance, there is a backlash, and Freedom eventually wins.

It has for thousands of years.

And it will again. I firmly believe that the destiny of the West is in the hands of those who love Freedom, especially in the United States.

Why?

The Left is utterly afraid of the Right. Though they put forward a great front – they are shaking. The American people on the Right compose the largest potential army in the history of the world.

The numbers:

There are at least 400,000,000 guns in private hands in the United States by one estimate. That seems right.

There are 800,000 or so cops. Assume they have two guns each. Heck, assume they have three. Round up. Three million guns. The Military in the United States owns about 4.4 million guns. Round up. That’s a total of less than 10 million guns in the hands of the United States government or other governmental authorities. And that assumes that they stand with the government, which is questionable at best.

Assume only 35% of the American public owns guns, a number I think is very low. Call it 100,000,000 people. Assume that those owners skew mostly Right – 80/20? That’s 80,000,000 on the Right. Let’s do 80/20 again on those that will not stand for a communist uprising in the United States. That’s 16,000,000 Americans ready to stand in the breach. The largest army in the history of the world (so far) were the United States armed forces in 1945: 12,000,000 Americans under arms.

I’ll state it again: American people on the Right have the potential to compose the largest army in the history of the world. Period.

People on the Right, men and women, also have more and better training for field conditions. I’d put The Mrs. up against most people on the Left if it came to a rural setting, because Leftists have no idea that trees are even made of wood, and I doubt that many on the Right will want to make the Stalingrad mistake and get caught in the cities as Leftists consume themselves. How many people on the Right have their homes on the market to escape from Minneapolis? From Seattle? From any of dozens of cities where they know that they no longer belong?

I have no idea. But they’d be fools to stay.

And even though we have the numbers on our side, there’s more good news. We don’t even need overwhelming numerical superiority:

How many apostles peacefully changed the religion of Europe?
How many Spartans defended all of Western Civilization at Thermopylae?
“But John,” you say, “most all of the people in your examples died for their cause.” Yes, they did. And we remember them for that because they changed the world. Thousands of years before Robert Heinlein said it, they knew the truth of his quote: “You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don’t ever count on having both at once.”

Besides, everyone is going to die. Is it better to be a Leonidas or a St. Peter?

Obviously, it is.

Don’t be like Ephialtes (LINK).

We outgun the Left. We have Truth, capital T, on our side. The other day Vox Day had this inspiring clip at his blog (LINK).

It was a good clip, and one I’d forgotten. So we watched the movie again tonight – it’s one that could not be made by Hollywood® today. That clip also makes the point I tried to make earlier much more eloquently than I ever could.

The Black Riots Lives Matter riots are demoralizing to people of good character. This is intentional. The riots are meant to make you feel alone. The riots are meant to make you feel that the Right has already lost.

The Right has not lost.

How did the Modern Sporting Lawyer make you feel?

That’s why he and his wife are condemned. That’s why they have vowed to cancel him, to make an example of them, to find a way to charge them with crime. They are the opposite of demoralization.

The Modern Sporting Lawyer and his wife drive the Left crazy. Here, their desire to destroy as a senseless mob was turned back by only two people.

Can you imagine if the Right was united? I can.

The corollary is obvious: quit fighting each other in the right. Stop. People don’t believe in your exact brand?

You can’t stand Libertarians? You can’t stand Lutherans? Baptists? Catholics? Vox Day? That atheist friend that doesn’t mind Christianity but still believes in freedom? The idea to fix our situation isn’t exactly yours?

Too bad.

We are in the same foxhole. Stop (metaphorically) shooting each other. Now. If you’re not with us, you’re against us. And if you’re fighting us, you’re against us.

How do you know if you’re with us?

We like building statues, not tearing them down.
We like building civilization, not tearing it apart.
We like the reason of facts and truth, not the politically correct statement of the moment.
We like justice based on law, not the social justice of the mob or judges that twist “shall not” into “sometimes.”
We like a culture of honor, not a culture of victimhood due to the self-imposed prison.
And that is the difference. The Left is bitter. The Left is seething. The Left is angry.

Why? Because, just like the foal with the cattle guard, they’ve made themselves prisoners. They’ve forgotten that becoming a prisoner might not be a choice for a horse, but it is for a person. But for the Left, that prison mentality is preferred.

The prison mentality is the chosen mentality of the Left. They see themselves as weak. Since they see themselves as weak, there is no choice but to hate themselves for that weakness. But outwardly, the Left rationalizes that weakness as being, somehow, good. They have to, because that’s all that stands between them and the unending self-hate. The Left raises an “anything goes” sexuality and sensuality to the highest plane because they are rooted in the Material, and cannot understand the Spiritual, the Transcendent.

The Right rejects that. All of it.

Sex isn’t a virtue, chastity is a virtue. Sex isn’t evil, but making it the focus of your life is no different than any other addiction – it is a vice. But which of those does the Left celebrate? Inside, they know that it’s wrong, and that also fills them with self-hate.

Because of that hate, and seek to make the Right weak like them. How? By demoralizing the Right, by taking virtues and attacking them while publicly celebrating things we use to call sin. By coming up with never ending list of impossible demands and nonsensical redefinitions of the English language on an ever more frequent basis. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has recently been excommunicated from the Left for being brazen enough to indicate that women might be, well, women.

The Right has built Western Civilization, and built it with a compassion for the weak. That makes the Left hate the Right even more. They seek to make us doubt our morals and virtue: everyone is racist, every historical figure is fatally flawed. That is justification enough in the minds of the Left to tear down everything that has made their prosperity and wealth transfer possible. The Left makes no real art, just caricatures of the genius that has gone before, photographs of Christ soaking in urine. The Left is a parasite that, failing to create, destroys.

But those games won’t work anymore. The Right is strong. The Right is virtuous. The Left seeks to build nothing because that is the province of the Right. And to the Left, those who are strong and build statues to the virtues of flawed men are evil.

Was Columbus perfect? No. Did he open up a New World? Yes. How many people in Mexico City would prefer to revert to the charnel house of the Aztecs? Some, but every hand that goes up will belong to a member of the Left.

The Right is not evil. We hold the light of Freedom, of civilization, of the future of mankind in our hands. Why? Because they could never build it. The Left seeks to delegitimize our moral achievement, because they feel small and envious next to those that compete and create.

Remember, the Soviets never looked stronger than they did immediately before they collapsed.

I don’t think we will win.

I know we will win. We are the foals that recognize the painted lines on the asphalt for the lie that they are. We are the horses that realize that they have the strength to jump over the cattle guard that we used to think was our prison.

I feel sorry for those who stand against the Right when we find our backs are to the wall. We have created the most powerful and free and prosperous culture in history. The Right doesn’t know its own strength. But it will learn, and the Left is afraid.

We will win. Maybe not this year. Maybe not next year. Maybe not even in the next decade. And the future won’t look like the past – that past is what led us to this crisis. We have the opportunity to remake our civilization, to remake America and to make it better.

And we will make it better.

And we will win.

We always have.

What is your profession?

My grandfather was a dairy farmer and I spent a lot of summer days on his farm as a lad. I learned all about the cattle guards then. Later, I learned how ancient Israeli shepherds corralled their sheep at night. They brought the sheep together and simply laid a single strand of rope around them, held up a foot or two off the ground by stakes. They left a gap in the rough circle a few feet wide and slept across that gap. The shepherd himself was literally the gate.

The sheep did not escape because after foaling season the shepherds put the lambs into a rope pen and taught them not to cross it by whacking them sharply on the head when they got near the rope. Then for the rest of their lives the sheep would not get closer than about three feet or so to the rope. Ever.

Typically, several flocks would come together at night when in the field so that the shepherds could take turns patrolling the perimeter of the single rope pen to look out for predators. In the morning, each shepherd would call his own sheep with his unique call and those sheep and none other would walk out through the gateway to their shepherd.

I RT’d this excellent article on Twitter.

    Mr. Wilder is absolutely correct.

Since before the days of Cronkite, the Left used their television networks, universities and movie studios to feed sh*t to the Right. Their strategy generally succeeded in moving the Right to the left. What they failed to consider was that their own children were eating the same sh*t intended for the Right. The result was that the Left moved left faster than the Right moved left.

Then the internet came along and ideas were once again allowed to freely compete. People didn’t have to eat sh*t anymore if they didn’t want to. This slowed the Right’s movement to the left, but not the Left’s because the Left isn’t into the free competition of ideas.

Politcal correctness, social justice, etc. are all sh*t designed by Marx, Marcuse, Gramsci and their ilk to separate the Right from the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of our culture. It took two thousand years to build this edifice of Western Civilization. Only people who eat their own ideological sh*t would believe we are going to give it up that easily.

Unfortunately for them, they live in a world of their own creation eating sh*t constantly. It’s a world they intended for the children of the Right, but somehow to their utter confusion, the Right escaped.

It is now the final chapter and they are out for Deplorable blood.

I hope my ex neighbor, John Wilder’s right, but, if by the right will win, he means freedom, individualism, democratic republics, the American way, will win, and I think he does mean that, alas, history does not support his argument.

None the less, of course, I sincerely hope he right.

Well, I’m the guy in Minneapolis. I told my wife a couple of weeks ago that I am preparing to bug out of this town. I told her if it happens it will happen fast, and we will have to abandon everything and go.

She is a leftie, and pacifistic. Her response was, do I have to go with you?

Nope, I said. I can hardly throw you over my shoulder. But do not expect me to come back for you when you decide you made a mistake. It will be too late, then.

We shall see. Even though the core population is very lefty, they are surrounded by those of more sensible left thought, and plenty of those on the right. Those two crowds are armed. There well might be a consensus to let the Somalis, the academics, the professional leftists and the lunatics fight it out, and clean up after. Note I don’t include the Mexican/Central Americans in this. They tend to like paternalistic government, but they are religious–Pentecostal, mostly.

And then there are the Vietnamese/Hmong. The Hmong especially are well armed, and not tolerant of nonsense. They’ll vote for people who promise free stuff. But they don’t run their families that way. I am really unsure how those two groups would go in a crisis. Neither is as conservative-minded as they were a generation ago.

Gordon sed: “She is a leftie, and pacifistic.”

Most unfortunate, and probably less uncommon than many might think.
I suspect a lot of “rightist” married males will be stunned and disappointed when the time comes. They will find out they didn’t know their wives as well as they thought they did.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it one more time.
Your worst enemy may be that smiling face across from you at the breakfast table tomorrow morn.
All they have to do is threaten to take her kids (no matter how old those kids are) and she’ll throw your ass under the bus post-instantly with out a 2nd thought.
Harden the fuk up, butter cup.

Ghost, about 40 years ago I read a book. In it was a scene when a couple comes in their front door to discover home invaders. Husband grabs the loaded shotgun from the closet and levels it at one of the invaders. As he fires, his wife sweeps the barrel upwards so the blast goes into the ceiling.

Both were hospitalized, him much worse. When he could communicate, the doctor brought in his wife. His message to the doctor: Get the traitorous bitch out of here. The wife ducked her head and left, knowing she had done the ultimate: when it came to them or us, she picked them.

That had a hell of an impact on me. Dumb ass that I am, I forgot all about it when it came to choose a wife. I’ll pay for that, have paid some already. But I also have to give her that moment, that choice.

I’ve lost two of my grown children to this nonsense. They have embraced BLM and guilt for their white privilege; I’m an awful racist. It breaks my heart.

  • John Whitworth July 11, 2020, 11:23 PM

I hope this Author is right…but for those used to reading books with happy endings, the last line of George Orwell’s 1984 ,“He loved Big Brother,” is a dark, brilliant, eye-opening kick in the teeth.

As a cautionary tale .. at least let the battle for Freedom be joined.

  • ghostsniper July 12, 2020, 4:27 AM

I appreciate your honesty Gordon, and I understand, as I too have some speculation in that regard. The best we can do is live for today, and plan for tomorrow, some how.

The Right does and has done great things.
All the left knows how to do is steal great things & fuck them up.
Witness Biden’s plagiarization of Trump’s economic plans –

  • OneGuy July 12, 2020, 7:30 AM

The left will win at least in the short term. They fight dirty, they are organized and they have a specific and definable objective. If you want proof of how emasculated the right is you need nothing more than to watch what John Durham has done. He has a slam dunk case against the worst of the left for their attempted coup and what has he done. Worse, what will he do… Nothing! Or at least nothing in time to be of any value. If the right had any balls at all then Durham and the DOJ would have brought a couple dozen of Obama’s people to justice by now. They didn’t and they won’t.

To ghostsniper: I am fortunate; my wife understands reality. She knows how to use a weapon and would not shy away from it. She surely would not attempt to dissuade me from doing the needful. She has watched me deal with predators against our hens and has never raised an objection when the actions would otherwise have been unpleasant.

Over July 4th weekend, we had a gang of reputed antifa congregate in our small town and we suspected that their target was defacing a local monument to fallen soldiers. A few fellows and I sat on guard for several nights just off the square and watched as out-of-town visitors surveilled the square and hurled insults at us as we sat guard. The local police stopped by several times to say hello. My dear wife was supportive. I remember her texting me at 10:00 and telling me to wake her when I returned so she could make me a hearty breakfast.

I have no doubt that I would have her unwavering support, as I have defended her from verbal attacks and abuse from my own brother, for pete’s sake.

    Gordon:
My wife and I fled the Soviet Socialist State of Minnesota last year. We had been living in our house in the middle of the hive (South Minneapolis) for 27 years, but when I retired she gave me one more year to find a house outside the 7-county metro area (we’d been looking for 4 years), and then she said we were moving to Wyoming.
The year was up, and she sent me out here with instructions to find a house or not come back. I looked at 14 houses in 2 days, and settled on one that turned out to be the one she liked best from her on-line searching. We made an offer that day; it was accepted with some minor modifications within a couple of days. Bear in mind, she’d never stepped foot in the house.
We put our tiny little house up for sale and moved in October 2019. The house in Mpls closed in December. We’re now in three times the space, for only a 30% increase in cost, with less than half the property tax. Wyoming has no state income tax, and everything (except lumber) costs less. It’s a constitutional-carry state, but we renewed our MN carry permits so that we are legal to carry concealed in neighboring Montana. Health care here is actually better (except for the Mayo Clinic) than in the Twin Shitties.
GET OUT while you can. Unless you’ve got a fabulous job that cannot be done online, get out of that collapsing hellhole. Just be sure not to bring the bed-fouling politics that got the state into that situation with you.

Breaking News: The McCloskey’s of St. Louis, Missouri were raided by the local police and all of their guns were stolen away. Bands of potential rioters are still circling their neighborhood and congregating daily outside their property. Here’s some good news: https://100percentfedup.com/local-gun-store-offers-free-ar15-to-st-louis-couple-after-rifle-used-to-protect-home-from-blm-was-confiscated/

  • ghostsniper July 12, 2020, 10:31 AM

    @Tom, well that’s a nice gesture, but….take a look at that gun.
If I was McCloskey I’d refuse it and buy what I wanted before accepting the gun on offer.
If I did accept the offer I’d sandblast it then have it creokoted and offload all that silly neon green nonsense.

On that same link was another link to a thing about De Niro.
He wants to punch trump in the face again.
And apparently he is starting to hurt financially cause his negress wife has filed for divorce and 2 of his businesses are failing. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving asswipe. I hope it all becomes too much and he taxi drivers his self.

  • Lurker July 12, 2020, 11:48 AM

OK, granted our side has the most weapons. But what’s the philosophical threshold when it becomes OK to shoot the bastards? Our side is law abiding and has been conditioned not to shoot first unless it’s a life-threatening situation. I fear if the Left is smart, they’ll keep pushing firmly, yet gently enough that the threshold seems not quite breached enough to warrant an across-the-board lethal response. Also, the laws regarding civilian use of force are being weaponized and applied in only one direction, against us (see McCloskey above).

So, philosophically, what is the point when it becomes OK to start shooting? I think we need to start talking about this, and not presume that the conditions will unambiguously present themselves.

  • Mark Belk July 12, 2020, 12:09 PM

If you ever give one inch to most women you will never get that inch back, especially these days.
My wife was not liberal when I met her but she wasn’t right wing either…I trained her up the way I wanted her to be just as you train a child and now she is so right wing…wait, I think I hear her over there on the far right talking to Jefferson and Patrick Henry now!

  • Tom Hyland July 12, 2020, 12:17 PM

@ ghostsniper….. Granted, the offered freebie guns are pretty stupid looking… but still they go BANG BANG and discharge lead at a freakishly high weight per sq. in. Remember the McCloskey’s personal style of brandishing the heat? They didn’t look quite comfortable and familiar with those items. If they accept the new stuff hopefully they’ve got some pals who will suggest making it look a bit less silly. But regardless of the patina… marauding packs of goons get spooked very quickly when one of them starts sweating fear.

    Edaddy,

Your comment compelled me to respond. Just the other day, my very left wing, 62 year old co-worker told a story about being chastised by his twenty something year old daughter for making a dumb, dad comment that “all beers matter”. He created this little Frankenstein’s monster and now he’s shocked and offended that’s she’s turning on him.

    To the rest of you,

Hello, I just discovered this site today and after seeing that it has such an intelligent comment section,
I think I’ll add it to my daily reading.

Minute Men — citizens who are ready to defend their liberty at a moment’s notice. Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of America, cannot succeed with any lesser effort.

Past time to shoot rioters and run over people in the streets
