UPDATE:Supreme Court Of Texas Orders Release Of Jailed Texas Stylist Shelly Luther

AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – The Supreme Court of Texas has ordered the release of Dallas salon owner, Shelly Luther, who was jailed for violating executive stay at home orders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She’s currently in isolation and protective custody at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas.

The jail is expected to release her Thursday afternoon.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott modified his executive orders and eliminated confinement as a punishment for violating the mandates.

Texas’ governor and attorney general have both called for her release. The AG says he has no power. I suppose the governor could pardon her, but the salon is still open with her employees onside, so each day she’s guilty again, at least until Friday when all such businesses open.

They have raised a quarter million to help her legal cause, and the Texas lieutenant governor says he will pay her fine.

One wonders if no on in the DFW area owns a roofing tar cooker. You know, the kind that tows behind a pickup, roars like a jet engine when it’s heating, and stinks up the place for two blocks around. Add someone who has stopped by a poultry processing facility and acquired a few bags of feathers. Park in front of the courthouse, fire up the cooker, unfurl an appropriate sign.

I also note that it was Ector County in Texas that deployed the MRAP against a female bar owner. This whole “give away surplus military equipment” thing has been a bad, bad idea. Local police forces are clearly unable to resist kitting up like it’s Falujah and not Odessa.

There’s a GoFundMe set up for Shelley, who was so cruelly treated by that asinine judge. If you want to contribute like I did, here you go:

As a Texan, I am incensed by this moronic judge, who gives Texas a bad name. His name is Eric Moyé, he’s a District Judge in the 14th Congressional District, and his BFF is Barack Hussein (explains a lot, doesn’t it.) So far both the Texas AG and the Governor have protested the treatment Shelley got, but AFAIK she’s still in jail, why I don’t know (I would think that Gov. Abbott could issue a pardon, but I’m not a lawyer.)

If Shelley Luther catches the Wuhan Flu while in jail, this asshole judge did it to her. That same jerk let actual criminals out of jail to prevent them from catching it!

Riding him out of town on a rail, tarred and feathered, sounds great to me!

In a similar vein, Malinda of Red Headed Rant fame, has opened her salon, too. Over the state line, they’re allowed to be open for business. The fear is that everyone will take their business from her salon in Johnson County to Clayton and Jackson Counties on the Missouri side. So far, she hasn’t been hauled off to jail by Meal Team 6.

This judge is up for election in November..just saying.

  • ghostsniper May 7, 2020, 6:22 AM

I won’t be happy until I see this person slowly dragged behind a truck while people armed with ax handles and baseball bats flank both sides of the dirt road taking swings as he bounces past.

Wanna see what this masked gov’t bandit looks like without the cover?

In the coming correction there will be a pike for the ass clowns head.

And additional pikes for the ass clowns badged enforcers.

And on and on, where it ends no one knows.

The crumbling of our nation is in process at warp speed it seems.

It’s the wrong decision and the judge is a posturing pompous ass-clown, and comeuppance in November would be the best result, removing his bestowed powers (if that’s possible in Dallas). But – she did stand in front of a camera and ceremoniously rip up the restraining order and declared her intention to open for business, in defiance. If her objective was to re-open, that wasn’t smart.

  • Gordon Scott May 7, 2020, 9:13 AM

Aggie, I understand what you’re saying about her going on camera to tear up the restraining order. That sort of thing will get the attention of judges, who have enormous power to make you behave according to their rules in their court.

On the other hand, going on TV to tell folks that you’re in the business of cutting hair and that your doors are open is otherwise known as advertising.

  • OneGuy May 7, 2020, 9:41 AM

Her active resistance is what endears her to us. Ripping up the restraining order was the right thing to do. Now it’s time for the rest of us to step up and back her.

This asshat judge lives at 1645 Nob Hill Rd, Dallas, TX 75208 and would just love any Americans left in Texas to stop by so he can express his sorrow…

  • Gordon Scott May 7, 2020, 11:26 AM

To quote one of the salon owner’s lawyers: “Done! Bam! Habeas Corpus granted.
    Go get an illegal haircut.”

    His name? Briscoe Cain.

I’m out of order?! You’re out of order! The whole trial is out of order!

Dictator’s do not play by “rules”. Not even their own. Neither do their surrogates. The “judge” is nothing more than the henchman for the Obozo/democrat doctrine. Written law means nothing to these usurpers.

The USA is well into civil war. This should now be apparent to the deaf and the blind.

19 April, 1775 certain folks at Lexington and Concord were perhaps not very smart for shooting back at the British Empire, but thank God for their stupidity, or we’d all be speaking the King’s English and turning in our kitchen knives now.
