Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of
universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I
reach my hands and play with pebbles of
destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs
reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive
in the universe.

The Vault
Take It Where You Find It
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

Happy Easter, Gerard! Don’t you love a black cat in sunshine? Especially those smooth, damp places just washed? She’s loving her Easter sunshine.
Just got back from walking five and a half rigorous miles on this cool gray Easter. Got home, flopped in the red chair, and Buddy the Cat jumped right up into my lap to join me. My wife is doing her exercises in her den. It’s quiet here, and we’re OK. Much to be grateful for.
A blessed Easter to all who stop by.

I go to a tiny Baptist Church two blocks away. The last three weeks, there have been five worshippers including the pastor and his wife. She plays the piano and live-streams his sermons on Facebook, for the others of the congregation who stay home. The pastor doesn’t want to preach to an empty church, so three of us listen to his sermon. There is a sign about a block from the church that tells us we can be arrested, jailed and fined $1000 for nonessential travel. It’s shocking! I can’t help feeling the Deep State is continuing on with its coup attempt by exploiting this shutdown.
Happy Easter, Gerard! Nothing like a happy cat in a basket in the sunshine… What a wonderful world, indeed.

It helps me to remember that the Powers That Were set a guard at the door of Christ’s tomb after His burial, and a fat lot of good that did them. The Lord is risen, He is risen indeed!
And yes, I like to think there was a little black cat walking in the garden on the first Easter, and that He stopped to pet and bless her. On this Easter, Olive is a picture of sunlit contentment, with the deep pink flower complementing her red collar and heart tag.
Easter greetings to both of you.
Begs the question, Margot, what would be their penalty for running their sign over and flattening it. Literally anything, presumably, considering they have already abandoned their sworn oath with contempt.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Of late I’ve been wondering what that stout fellow who cleared the temple in Jerusalem of money-changers would do under our present situation.
As the Babylon Bee advises, “Romans investigating Jesus for violating Stay-At-Tomb order.”
Happy Easter, Gerard and AD readers!
Happy Easter, Gerard! And to you, too, Miss Olive! And to y’all!

P.S. – Did I tell you we adopted a black kitty last November? We named her Pepper.
Now you hafta adopt a white male and name him Salt.
