When we had an open house on our Florida house more than 300 people came tromping through.
    300 strangers in our house!
The street looked like a parking lot.
    I’ll never do that again.

Well, what can I say but they are up for it. Remember that the point of a house built on “spec” is to sell it for more than it cost.

Also, I don’t think Wadsworth and Wadsworth are going to do another, but what a great accomplishment this has been for both.

Yes, sell for more than it costs. That’s a good thing.
At this moment I am finishing up the plans on the 26th “spec” home I have designed this year. I did 13 more this year for custom buyers. For a total of 39. I imagine I will do 60 or more before the year is over. Been a busy year.

Spec = speculative, or, speculation buyers. Spec could also mean specific. As in, A house built specifically to be sold quickly. Like the name “ranch style home” it can mean whatever the speaker wants it to mean. 2 of the 5 homes we have lived in over the past 38 years have been new builder spec homes. Of the other 3, 1 was a rental, 1 was previously owned, and 1 was custom built. My favorite was the custom, of course. It fit like a glove.

Also, if they are successful with this one they should do another, but employ what they have learned through the past process. But then, I believe he is about my age (66) and may not want to commit to such an all consuming endeavor. It’s a young mans world.
