The Codependency of the American Right by “Ten”

In a comment to a post here in 2018 The Progs: They Hate the Church More Than They Hate Life Itself an AD reader named “Ten” was more than four years ahead of today in analyzing the “American Right.”

Ten January 28, 2018, 12:23 PM

Dr. Jay asked, ‘Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me’?

Maybe simplistic is a better word. Consider the facts:

1. ProgLibIsm is self-evidently psychotic. Nope, I say that not as rhetoric; it’s a plain deduction that simply observes that the left’s tenets are The Lie and appearances-centrism, hallmarks of clinical dysfunction. They postmodernistically invent reality, frame any narrative pursuant it, reject objective reality, invent new moralities, steal from others, defraud everything, project onto The Other, and morally split like crazy. No pun; they’re apparently, evidently, religiously psychotic. They’re racist, sexist abusers and they’re way inside the house. Have been for half a century, rent paid.

2. The right, being ostensible, is all but completely codependent on #1. The right simply instinctively says and does the binary, polar opposite of the left. The right does not operate from principle or position but from its own mob’s instincts and from dumb cultural inertia.

The right has no idea what conservatism is and by now actually actively rejects much of the founding structural architecture, preferring a list of statism a mile long.

In no particular order:

  • Federal “social security” and MediCare/Aid medicine plus prescription drug plans;
  • the nearly $1T welfare state as some permanent, arbitrary, political, “safety net” percentage of all expenditures;
  • central schooling,
  • the two-income household, and the resultant progressive national morality as a component of the former;
  • a NASA fetish – which is socialism for scientists;
  • personal income tax as “skin in the game”;
  • untaxed corporatism and the central corporate oligarchy that studies show has nullified the individual’s voice in Congress in favor of laws actually written by its lobbyists;
  • overt congressional graft and campaign recklessness- calling it “free speech”; central banking and the casino bank – the “investment bank” is its sanctified, pro-“capitalism” title;
  • the holy primacy of the stock market, which really is stock buybacks and incredible Fed subsidies, along with algo trading, HTFs, and elite market access;
  • the utter, cross-linked abyss of financial derivatives built thereon;
  • progressive monetary policy, fractional reserve – because “there’s not enough money” – fiat reserve currency, and monetizing everything;
  • the petro-dollar;
  • endless foreign entanglements;
  • militarism and military expansionism;
  • the industrial war complex; military and war culture fetishism;
  • veterans culture and its socialized expenses;
  • militarized police, the surveillance state and sacrificing 4A for “safety”;
  • and instinctively identifying about half of tax-funded public servants as HEE-roes because they wear a uniform.

There’s probably more.

3. Given this, the ultimate horror is pending: Give the ostensible right the reins of all three branches, which we have, what will they do?

They’ll forget entirely the national debt and will pump markets to bursting thus beating the dollar down to a literal penny, ending it, at which time the next collapse will justly have them alone in the national crosshairs.

Then they’ll rummage around looking for a leftist to blame, all the while yelling hoorah or semper fi from their rec room or their pickup truck or something while waving a weapon of some sort and shrieking about 2A.

I don’t think it’s explicitly, inherently solipsistic in the cavernous rightist echo chamber (no disrespect to our erudite and artistic host whatsoever because it generally isn’t in here), however in there it is typically poorly reasoned, historically narrow, and selective, jingoistic, smug, ignorant, arrogant, defensive, and not up for correction. The right, having assumed all the reigns of power only about a year ago, will proceed to do absolutely nothing to reclaim what it never should have lost.

The Current Occupant [In 2018] is therefore an accidental gift. Trump is an accidental gift the likes of which the ostensible right will first squander and then never, ever, ever see again.

The psycho left will now proceed to encroach and encroach and the ostensible right will chortle and point and then go order another triple bacon combo death meal with super-sized Goliath fries and the four-quart gulpie, run over some vegans and a windfarm to show he really means business, and finally capitulate into a smoldering heap while the American press JFK warned everybody about – before they ignored him completely – gets out tankers of ink and starts shoveling an entire nation over.

When the right finally goes extinct, which it is hellbent to do, it won’t have a single valid defense to hang around its own neck. It did this to itself.

The American right is wholly incapable of being the American right .

The American left, however, is always thinking ahead:

It’s no accident that his hat has a “D” on it.

    Right, and when it’s all said and done (& right now it pretty much is all said and done.) , America, actually western civilization, is done.

    Their are roughly 160 million definitions of conservatism. I’m offended when some one-or some group decides they need to define conservative for We The People. A guy or gal, or group who most likely got a GOVT grant with “ input of definition attached”.

    Conservatism is a mind set, and ideal, a personal voyage, not to be determined by a corporation or a govt.

    Conservatives, we’ll the definition changes as we age. In our young adult conservative could be defined by what we drive what we eat. As we age, become more successful conservative grows with us.

    Attaching conservative to anything political, is laughable. That’s a true oxymoron.

    O yea, that was then. Three branch’s. To expedite DC slimmed er down to just one, aptly titled “Just Govt.”

    Don’t mean fuck all which branch is the check and balance. They consult the other two before they
    Opine.

    DC is a sick festering Puss pocket, needing swift removal, for the rest of this country to heal

    Probably true. A pattern has been established here. I see a lot of huffin and puffin about the next national election, that it will be a landslide in favor of the right and for the life of me I don’t know where all this is coming from. The left is tearing into it from all directions and the best the right can do is duck and cover. Where are the bare fisted brawlers?

    I’ll tell you where. Over there at the honey trough with big scoops in both hands, dragging as much dripping grift over the sides as possible while possible. They’re getting theirs and nobody else matters. They do their little song and dance now and then when they can’t get out of it, then right back to the trough. Are you hopeful about the next election? Then you need your head slammed against the stucco wall, and no, they ain’t afraid of you and all your asshat weapons neither. sheesh

    Purposefully, I miss Ten. Ten often torched me, Ghost, KC and a few others, and made me pull out my dictionary on a regular basis.

      Me too. Commenters come and go and then, sometimes, come back.

    The Anti-Federalists were right. We gave the Federal government way too much power at the Constitutional Convention. That said, we need to reestablish individual liberty, the sanctity of private property and representative government (NOT democracy) as radical ideas for the human future. There should be nothing ‘conservative’ about it.

    Jean-Paul Sartre is sitting at a French cafe, revising his draft of Being and Nothingness. He says to the waitress, “I’d like a cup of coffee, please, with no cream.” The waitress replies, “I’m sorry, Monsieur, but we’re out of cream. How about with no milk?”

    I did conservative today, wayyyy out in a spot named Adel Oregon. Had lunch with a slug or real deal cowboys, I mean slow talking, knock kneed real horse riding cowboys. Most were in from morning branding. Haying tonight.

    Ain’t no violin players in the street, ain’t nobody telling you what you can do, can’t do. The burger was fresh, the veggies local. Was meeting with a HUGE local ranch owner. I missed him, so I enjoyed sitting around with his cowboy friends.

    Saw mountain sheep, sand hill cranes, the biggest antelope I’ve ever seen. The creeks were full flowing, the water falls, stood out. As I looked across the valley at Dougherty Grade, 140 E,,,,,, inside OREGON, what a magnificent country, what a rugged country.

    I met a gent the ranchers call ol crazy, a drifter camped up a canyon. He is a maker of stuff, selling trinkets to travelers on high 140.

    I purchased a necklace for my wife, a tiny “ bird” arrowhead, wrapped in copper or bronze, goat skin sinue? Thinly sliced and cured. An ancient rock wrapped clasp, “aren’t all rocks ancient?

    I instantly recognized this ol boy was stupid like a fox. Guessing he’s making more selling trinkets then the buckaroos who make their living on the back of a horse, daily out their.

    It ain’t about the money to them, it’s all about the life style, the natural beauty,

    Ten sed: “Trump is an accidental gift the likes of which the ostensible right will first squander and then never, ever, ever see again.”

    My contention is that Trump was a gift from God, and the evidence glares from both of your statements, Ten, and Ghost. He was weirdly of this time, and made a “Yuge” dent in the slide into perdition that we’ve been experiencing. I almost wrote something shitty about the “progs,” but realized it was reactionary. I think it’s dead on that we must pose our own questions, and make our own pronouncements. As long as we only answer to the Left, we are never going to establish a conservative narrative.

    Dirk is onto something. Cowboys (or ranchers IOW), miners, loggers, farmers. Few others: they are the meat and muscle of “Right” thinking.

    Another pandemic? The fuck you say, Mr Prez. Midterms approaching, I guess.

    Casey, yesterday was my honor, I sat and listened to men who care not what the newspaper says. They don’t own tv’s, yet their learned men, life’s wisdom dripping from their every thought, every word.

    Everyday in the Oregon outback schools in session, every day for these men learning something new, something that has merit/meaning for these men. The Adel school got out yesterday for summer.

    A one room affair, one teacher, whom is also the school bus driver. I watched curiously as the bus stopped all five students exited. I openly said five, the cowboys smiled the old salty dog said “yup just five”, asked if I noticed anything peculiar, I studied the youth another second or two, it hit me everyone was a young lady, we’ll girl. I said all girls,

    The cowboys kept eating, one said slowly “ it’s the water”. We all laughed. They were surprised even I got the insider joke.

    Life is the lesson, what I rediscovered yesterday, was their are no cars in Adel OREGON,,, just his and her, flatbed trucks. I learned that they buckaroos, have a sport, I think I learned that they really enjoy it when a tourist stops in for a Coca Cola, they have a number code for the wives, and enjoy snide comments only after the “passer buyers” return to highway 140.

    Another group of buckaroos was passing by on their way back to Fields Oregon, stopped for a burger and a beer. I listened as these dusty dirty clean shaven cowboys and cow girls conversed with the locals.

    They were taking the dirt road back to Fields, didn’t much care for the highway. Had a secret hot springs, swimming hole east of the antelope refuge they were going to soak in. Apparently buckaroos only. The locals knew of it.

    There are perhaps a 100 hot springs in the area, many only known by the locals. The locations are secret, local only kinda stuff.

    My grandsons were with me, they were playing with the local children in no time. My boys, their girls! Just makes sense don’t it.

    The world I touched yesterday is in many ways very simple, in a complex sort of way. I’m guessing living here for twenty years would kinda make you a community member, who knows.

    I would and could live here in the OREGON Outback, be their today if my wife would buy in. Not going to happen. So I’ll continue to look into a world I admire so so much, a life style, in which communication skills are king. AM radio,is the outside I’m told few have tv’s, nobody to deliver the news paper. Milk is fresh, cream’s churned to butter at many of the homes. Gardens are tended by the lady folk.

    Firewoods stacked high, winters are brutally cold, the wind cuts like a knife. Wool is still king here, and ranching IS life.

    • Casey Klahn June 23, 2022, 8:30 AM

      Yeah. I love that.

      I grew up in a logging community. There are three of them in Washington. Darrington, Forks, and Hoquiam. I, from Hoquiam, and my dad and granddad from Forks. Logging community means all logging. To the extent that the other jobs there, which include sea fishing, are too few to count; timber is king. I asked my dad about the big trees and the spotted owl stupidity. He said that if you don’t cut down the old growth then it’ll just fall down. Another time, though, he said the value of an old growth tree is nill, because they’re all rotten inside. Just: wisdom. dad was a pioneer homesteader, grew up in the Great Depression, a logger and a WWII combat vet.

      Now I live in a farming community. The ranchers are also nearby, but my wife’s family happen to be farmers. My late dad in law: there is a home movie of he and several of my buddies, digging a pit to roast a pig. They are wielding shovels like maniacs, but Jim is going in slower, with each shovel getting a full load of dirt, and always from the correct spot in the hole. He did more than twice the work of the 2 or 3 other men. Jim was born into farming, the great Depression, and then served in WWII.

      Many of these working men and families used to vote Roosevelt and Jackson Democrat, but I noticed that the dems, especially after Vietnam, have turned against working men, especially those who work the land.

      You’ve touched on one of the reasons. The people we’re talking about think straighter thoughts, and brook less shit in their heads. Democrats are all shit for brains. No more room even for thought.
