I’m going to take a **slight** exception to this ad.
Yes, we each have the right to defend ourselves, our families and our communities from those who mean us harm. For those so inclined, that includes owning and maintaining proficiency with an AR15 or other firearms. I agree with this point made in the ad.
However, the other explicit point of the ad is that the black community still has to face the Klan. Does the Klan exist? Sure it does? Has the black community been specifically been targeted by racists? Absolutely. The shootings in Buffalo and Charleston come to mind.
I wish Jerone Davidson well (dunno one thing about him beyond this ad), but I do wish that he hadn’t gone straight to the boogeymen in Klan robes. America and Black Americans have bigger enemies to worry about.

A fit of insomnia tonight had me up walking around the house. I said earlier that I didn’t know one thing about this Jerone Davidson, and boy did I nail that. Mrs. azlib brought the mail into the house earlier today and it included our mail-in ballots*. I now learned, in the middle of the night, that we are no longer in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District, but instead have been re-districted into the 4th. And one Jerone Davidson is one of 5 candidates for the Republican nomination.
Wiki tells me that Davidson played one season of football with the Oakland Raiders way back in ’97, and now you know all that I know of him.
* Mail-in ballots. Yeah, Arizona still uses them and the Mrs. and I meant to take ourselves off the list, but let things slide. As we’ve done forever, we’ll cast our ballots at our kitchen table and then drive them into the polling place (which has probably changed too). But these mail-in ballot schemes trade convenience for the openness-for-fraud and should be done away with.
