It is only in interesting times full of challenges and danger that true greatness can emerge in people. It is unimaginable that our current age could produce men like Xenophon and Alexander, or the likes of Nikolai Przhevalsky and Ernst Junger. Even if such people exist today with such potential, the current state of affairs makes the realization their greatness near impossible. What has existed in the West since at least the mid-20th century is a world without heroes and without heroism. Instead the most base human instincts are increasingly held up and celebrated as the ideal. Fortunately this period is coming to an end. What Russia has done is to help birth a new world historical epoch. And thanks to the sheer audacity of the Russian leadership the so called “end of history” will come to be regarded as nothing but a bad joke.
So remember that great Ukie slogan “the Ukraine is Europe”. I agree with this slogan. But only because the entire West became one big Ukronazi Banderastan. Is that “just” human nature? I don’t think so. I think that was we are all witnessing is the climax of a genocidal hatred against Russia which dates from at least the Northern Crusades.

Rusty, I understand the sentiment in regards the Democrats, but the decline of America cannot be laid just at the Democrat’s doorstep. Though the Democrats are the face we see, and whose words we hear, as the leaders of America’s decline, the Republicans are just as complicit. If we are to talk of killing the enemies of America, the Republicans must be included.
When I state this, I think of what Leon Kass writes in his book The Beginning of Wisdom – Reading Genesis, wherein Kass writes about Abraham bargaining with God over the fate of Sodom. Abraham says to God, what if there are 50 righteous men, would God spare Sodom, and he continues this line of bargaining until the number gets down to 10 righteous men. Sodom was not worth saving, and I fear the same can be said about any individual in Washington D.C., whether they have an “R” or a “D” behind their name.
Does this seem a harsh assessment? Possibly, but, as Buddy Brown notes in that video at the top of this post, quiet men who wanted to be left alone, who pray to be left alone, have not been left alone, and as things have gone from bad to worse leadership wise, economically, etc., well, quiet men are seeing their own families being destroyed by the hubris of power. I agree about the danger to the elites of rousing those of us who just want to be left alone to run our own lives. Unfortunately when that spasm of violence comes, we will walk away from the aftermath too soon and give the victory back to the same people who run things now because running everybody’s life is their dream job and it isn’t ours.

I’m thinkin’, and hopin’, James, that when the card flips it will stay flipped for a long time.
The criminals of this country won’t be eradicated in a single day.
It will take sustained effort over a long time.
Because of lack of regular maintenance that the country has slid backwards as it has.
In a thousand different ways.
When the kid broke into your house you did not kill him for you feared the law.
Instead, the law dealt with him and turned him back out onto the street in short order and he went back into his ways to create more grief. How much better for all if you had terminated the grief when you had the opportunity. In the future this will not be normal, like in the past.
