Strange Daze: Resurrection Aftermath

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

It is not just the secular elites that make war on the Christian. The big churches have been taken over by the ideologues. Anywhere you see a rainbow flag it is either a gay bathhouse, a public school or a Protestant church. The Pope cares more about climate change than the Catholic faith. Even the Baptists have seen their organizations taken over by far-left radicals. The great challenge for most Christians is in finding a church that is not run by a far-left lunatic.

Countering the Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Underpinnings Behind Susceptibility to Fake News  A Psychological Sketch of the Fake News Believer. Many recent studies discuss the psychological makeup of the believer in fake news. The lack of analytical thinking (and reading) skills, general skepticism, and a lack of reflexive open-mindedness are vital to the psychological makeup of such a person (Pennycook and Rand, 2019a, 30). As for reading, it appears that people who believe “pseudo-profound sentences” (such as motivational phrases) are also more likely to believe fake news is accurate. Moreover, they are more likely to share such stories. This appears to be related to one’s own overconfidence in knowledge (Pennycook and Rand, 2019a, 33–35). Yet, people can detect fake news beyond their ability or “willingness to think analytically” (Pennycook and Rand, 2019a, 32). The factors listed above indicate that a wide range of people can fall victim to believing fake news despite different but related cognitive abilities–perhaps owing to similar ideological beliefs.

Taylor Lorenz Is a Dangerous Sociopath :  This demand for protection — the idea that Taylor Lorenz is a victim of injustice — can only be understood as part of a DARVO response. Nowhere in all the mainstream media’s coverage of the so-called “harassment” directed at Lorenz does one ever find any useful description of what she has done over the years to attract criticism of her work. Her original claim to fame (or, at least, the first time anyone on the “right wing” paid attention to her) was when Lorenz doxxed the teenage daughters of conservative blogger Pamela Geller. Considering that Geller has long been a target of Islamic terrorists — two ISIS gunmen tried to kill her in Texas in 2015, the same year another Muslim was shot by police after threatening to behead her — what was the point of doxxing Geller’s teenage daughters? Are we just supposed to ignore this in the context of Taylor Lorenz claiming to be a traumatized victim?

While it is true that appalling numbers of supposedly Christian clergy, including those of my own Church, have “gone over to the dark side” (don’t believe the PR about free cookies), what matters is not what the clergy do…or say. What matters is what the Gospels say. Stay with the Gospels, with emphasis on the Two Great Commandments, the Passion, and the Resurrection, and you can’t go wrong enough to matter.

I’ve struggled with organized religion for fifty years. EVERY church I’ve attended is packed full of hypocrites, womanizers, drunks. And then we get to the preachers. They seem to get the Bible covered in short order then spend the rest of the time, telling everyone how bitchen they are.

And o yea, we need more money.

I’m a believer in God, I’m not really supportive of the church or church staff. I’m certain gods forgiven me, hell I’m sure he sees exactly wha I see.

    • John Venlet April 21, 2022, 1:26 PM

EVERY church I’ve attended is packed full of hypocrites, womanizers, drunks.

Well, Dirk, those are the type of folk that Jesus Christ was actually trying to reach, not to mention that He was criticized for hanging around with the wrong crowd, and that He came to save sinners, not the righteous.

      • Dirk April 21, 2022, 8:00 PM

Yup, he pulled my ass out of a huge mess many times. I’m grateful. You caught the part where I mentioned I’m a believer in god.

I really thing god get tired of the idiots, “. Dear lord, Do I turn left or right at the corner”. We were given the gift of “reason” Rationale” for I think all the right reasons. Logic’s thrown in also.

        John. Your point is noted.

When I hear folks say “the church is full of hypocrites” my thought is “Well hell, there’s always room for one more”

  • Jack Crevalle April 21, 2022, 1:54 PM

Speaking as a hypocrite, womanizer, and drunk myself, I can affirm that’s why I go to church. It’s like complaining because the hospital is full of sick people. Whad’ya expect? Plus, like C. S. Lewis said, if you think we’re awful—and we are—imagine what we might be like if we didn’t go.

Re. churches & the Pope*, while he and his cronies at high levels don’t seem to care overly much for the state of people’s souls, at the local and lay level that is absolutely why people are there.

Re. Walgreens, our local Walmart has looked like that for years. Mostly it’s certain areas of the store, particularly those featuring items commonly used by a particular demographic (such as lotion and haircare).

I think I’m off from my church, again.

They have been having an ongoing run of ministers, coming and going, and always “Too soon”. As soon as one lands, a clique forms that wants to force them out. Some a couple of years, some a few months.

So this Easter we go to church. As the new (we had not seen her before that day) minister ascended to the pulpit; in her white satin flowing robes, her hoop earrings glittering in the lights, and her golden tiara contrasting strangely with her purple eye shadow, my girlfriend gasped and said, “Queen Latifah?”

During the blessing, the sermon, and the pastor’s prayer we checked off intercessions for; the Ukrainian people, the people struggling to cross into America across the Southern Border, and the beautiful Trans people.

This is a Congregational Church founded by the first generation of the Pilgrims to leave Plymouth, only ten miles away. I need to go check, Plymouth Rock may have cracked last weekend.

    I’m very tired.

Ladies and gentlemen, in the off topic/on topic department, I took a little trip downtown today to a place called the Bureau of Apples, Tomatoes & Fruit. Alpha…Tango…Foxtrot. Yes, the very one you think I mean. It’s been a shit show but I am here to tell the tale, which I will soon enough. It seems they wanted a thing I got in the US Mail that makes Fruit fire at a cyclic rate faster than normal, with each pull of the Fruit trigger. They wanted to seize this thing, which, of course, came in the mail from out of state, and which ostensibly is completely legal. Transition/Now, you say your fruit magazines that carry more than 10 fruit are “grandfathered” in and legal to own, but don’t buy any fukn more of those…that’s essentially over. By fiat. Fuck you very much. Your “grandfather” parts can go fuck themselves.
I told my offspring not to buy that silly thing. I turned it in. Interestingly, there were good fruit agents there, and bad ones! Didja ever?
Nice legal fruit part you got there, citizen. It’d be too bad if something happened for owning that little gem, now, wouldn’t it?

    • ghostsniper April 22, 2022, 4:44 AM

It’s completely legal to buy a stack of semi-cone shaped washers that thread together into one 8″ long pipe. However, the washers, when purchased, don’t have the hole in the middle like they normally would. To turn the semi-cone shaped discs into washers you must put them on the drill press and drill holes in them. According to Apples Tomatoes Fruits, as soon as I drill that first hole I am a potential felon that has not been caged or killed yet.

My thinking is that anything I possess is mine to use as I see fit and anyone that thinks they have the right to say anything about it is a criminal infringing on my natural rights. Now, if a criminal believes they can take some of my possessions what is to prevent them from taking the most valuable thing I own, my life?

See, it has to start and stop somewhere and I believe it starts by making exceptions to natural rights. The very idea of those last 4 words is criminal. Because once the camel gets it’s nasty snoot under the tent in short order the entire camel will be curled up next to you with it’s nasty ass stinking up the whole tent. It has to stop immediately after it starts. Crack the camel on the snoot!

      • KCK April 22, 2022, 7:39 AM

I had some very frank discussions with the Fruit agents. But, I’m not willing to die on the hill of a trigger. It is and it isn’t about the trigger. It’s about a fed bureau making up shit on the fly, and having the total weight of their own armed hubris behind them. Once I was flagged out, I had already lost. I think my progeny has learned something from this exercise.

When we got to the little entrance with the bulletproof glass and the door to the G Men’s office, the female special agent was now involved because “all of the men were out on a warrant call”. Accompanying the female was a man, possibly a supervisor. Everybody was smiles and cool, and he let out that he was a former infantry officer, and then it became hand shakes and back slaps and stories about our times at FT Benning School for Boys. My agent veteran was pissed at his Apples, Tomatoes & Fruit agency for governing by fiat, and noted that the constitutionality of this shait was specious, and that he could not wait for his imminent retirement. She did use the word “seize” and I told her, in the one crack of light, that I was doing them a favor by surrendering their trigger. I pressed Mr. Agent on whether this would spiral out to include anything grandfathered, and he went from intelligent to maybe four sentences of garbled shit.

No. Nobody there was my friend. But, I saw some polarities and got some intel. This is all 5th GEN stuff. I lost a small, seemingly unimportant firefight, and yet the campaign remains in question. The BATF wants ghost guns next. See? That would be all of yours. Just kidding. My take-away is that alphabet agencies now revise, amend and add to laws, and the people leading these agencies are straight out of central casting, or Marx’s very butthole. The BATF hasn’t had a director for, I think, 7 years. It is a radioactive agency, and as bat shit crazy as an ex wife in court.

I was scraping the barrel and breaking piggy banks to afford the M1. Now, where I was reluctant to spend on it, I have converted to so happy I did.

Have some guns. Have them in depth. This is our current move in the 5th GEN Conflict we are embroiled in.

I never said the part about when I first called the agent back, and he said to turn in the trigger. I said forcefully, and stridently (but my progeny said I never raised my voice or yelled) that the agent was making me afraid for all of the grandfathered things made illegal overnight, and that this is exactly the situation Americans have been fearing. You could hear the fear in that SOBs voice. My assessment is that he knows he’s not on legal ground. Rare Breed has been told to cease manufacture, and to retrieve all of the product they sold! Rare Breed has filed an appeal, and so the “law” is in limbo.

I apologize for hijacking this thread, because it is full of fine content.

The other shoe. Have you ever employed the gun show loophole? I may or may not have with a TYp E ninety-nine, Wolr d wA r Two era, certain oriental belligerent empire, curio and relic. Yes, there was a state line there. No, it doesn’t fire.

Agent telephone was very interested in this possible transaction because of some laws that all of my local citizens talk shit about, spit, piss and moan about. My bestie said he’d do cash and carry in the same situation just like it used to be in good old warshintown state. Agent telephone had my nuts in a vise, and used that piece of stinky oozing shiite to coerce me into forfeiting my legal trigger.

I just wanted to get this off my chest, and let you know the state of play here in my world. Agent telephone called today to thank me for (suckinghisballs) turning in the triGrr mechanism, and since there are no priors he’s going to consider the asinine bolt action curio rump purchase to be just water under the bridge.

Maybe we should delete this thread in a day or two. Just wanted to apprise the 2A people here of how things go.
