who is willing to walk that far thru cold wind, rain and snow to get to their car? Its looks like 1/4 mile

    • Auntie Analogue March 20, 2022, 10:46 AM

My dear Anonymous, one who affords not just the price of that house but also the taxes to be paid on it does not himself fetch one or the other of his several vehicles. He pays one or another of his household staff to fetch it for him. He may not even drive himself about and may instead be chauffeured, so he can sit in the back seat while doing multi-million dollar deals on his phone. Further, he probably owns a helicopter to whisk him to the airport where he boards his private bizjet for flights to and from Davos.

Nice work if you can get it, n’est-ce pas?

    • LP March 20, 2022, 1:47 PM

Annonymous- The car (chauffer) drives up to fetch you, you don’t walk down to the garage.

I’ve seen this more than once- an individual with a lot of money on their hands tears down a neighborhood in order to build an extravagant palace only to put it on the market within a year or two when their marriage breaks up, but it’s too late, the neighborhood will never be the same.

envy is a terrible thing, isn’t it?

      • B March 20, 2022, 12:37 PM

I do not see the comment as envy. I see the comment as pity. Ozymandias?
Unless you are referring to the person(s) undertaking to build this thing?

      • Rusty Nael March 20, 2022, 12:43 PM

I bet it probably is. Thankfully, I’ve never personally been burdened with it, as I’m very content with what I have.

        • ghostsniper March 20, 2022, 1:26 PM

But does it buy you another minute?
Funny how nullification works like that.

          • Rusty Nael March 20, 2022, 1:50 PM

Why would I be so foolish as to even think I could buy or beg another minute?
When my time is up, it’s up, and I’ll accept it. Life has always been awesome and bountiful, and whenever it comes to an end, I’ll still be thankful for every second of it.

            And what exactly was nullified?

            • ghostsniper March 20, 2022, 5:28 PM

“Why would I be so foolish as to even think I could buy or beg another minute?”
Because you think that of others, silly ass.

              “And what exactly was nullified?”
YOU were nullified but you’re too stupid to realize it, silly ass.

On his deathbed Hezekiah asked God for more time, and God granted him 15 more years. See Isaiah 38.

Good point, Mike. “Ask, and ye shall receive.”

However, I think it rather improbable that almighty God would extend that particular type of mercy on a person such as Ghost, who has clearly made known his deep hatred for God.

But then again, miracles do happen!

Having taken some landscape architecture courses, worked with LAs, and in possession of many gardening books, I feel more than qualified in saying that the landscaping is one big f*****g yawn.

    • ghostsniper March 20, 2022, 1:29 PM

An old architect once told me this about a client that knew it all, “Careful, he has a little knowledge, so he’s dangerous.”

      • Yer Busted March 21, 2022, 10:17 AM

And old, angry, psychotic, insecure, violent-tempered, wannabe architect once tried to tell everyone here that he performed “over 70,000” architectural projects- an absolutely impossible task for anyone under 150 years of age, and then expected everyone to be stupid enough to believe it.

It was among several hundred other extremely obvious lies he’s spewed here, and intertwined with his angry, childish insults and constant “correcting” of others in a pathetic attempt to make himself somehow look superior and be a “Mr. Know-it-all” on every topic on the website.

He sometimes posts rather cryptic babblings that are supposed to mimic the sayings of wise men, yet he falls miserably and hilariously short. Often, he will post conflicting and hypocritical comments- one day saying “he’ll kick so-and-so’s ass,” and the next day admit he’s weak and infirm, desperately relying on his little 9mm pistol- to protect himself from the imaginary boogeymen that incessantly haunt him.

It has resulted in the demise of his credibility and has served to expose his uncontrollable anger. His cowardice and narcissism have become his calling card.
And lately, his mental decline has progressed to the point of making him attack multiple others here- unprovoked, and unwarranted.

“Careful, he has zero knowledge, and fantasizes himself as dangerous.”

Sometimes, life just leaves me confused. Grateful for a few friends; amused by the chatter. Why would anybody waste money on a theater ticket when they have this site to look at, any time of the day, for free? You’ve got drama, intrigue, abuse, hilarity, education, love, hate, religion, braggadocio, advice, sobriety and hallucinations all in one spot. Guess I’ll restore the bookmark.

  • Dirk March 21, 2022, 10:39 AM

    Lol, tough crowd, Ghost!

    • ghostsniper March 21, 2022, 2:28 PM

Just ex-Cali Pete, trolling like it always does.
I’ve kicked it’s stupid ass so many times my foot hurts.

      • Anonymous March 21, 2022, 6:13 PM

Yeah, that guy is me and I’m him! I’m probably also 70,000 other people here! (one for each of your monumental architectural achievements)
And yeah, we’re all STALKING you, and we’re all government TROLLS! We live in your head! We might be coming after you- just like in all your bed-wetting nightmares!
Better check those bushes near your front door again- I/we/it might be hiding there! BOO! (Chuckle…)

“It’s afraid to do that in person, that’s why it hides behind so many ID’s.”

The obvious solution- simply tell me when and where you’d like to meet me IN PERSON. I love to travel, and have a pretty flexible schedule.
        No excuses.
No name-calling instead of an answer.
        No dodging the subject.
No pretending that you didn’t read this post.

And should you refuse to provide a time and place, then your cowardice will be permanently carved in stone for all here to see.
You can even schedule it a couple weeks to a month from now if that will make it easier for you.

Heck, I’ll even buy you a steak lunch, so don’t forget your dentures. And maybe we could hit your favorite range- so I can personally vouch for your amazing, expert ability to hit an 8″ steel gong at 1000 yards, and I’ll gladly pay for your ammo.

SO…… Man up, shut up, or be forever condemned to checking your bushes for “stalkers” every 10 minutes- your choice. Let me know if I can possibly make it any easier for you, OK? Thanks.

      Hale, don’t worry about it.
Ghost’s severe lack of testosterone guarantees that his cowardice will continue to rule his actions- with the exception of doing his “keyboard commando” BS.

He’ll ignore the above challenge, and probably insist it never existed. It’s what cowards do.

  • Cascadian March 22, 2022, 1:15 AM

Meretricious comes to mind, and very poor rendering for such an expensive project. Were the owner to be so stupid to clad the building like a southern california mansion the rain would quickly streak the exterior. As for “zero carbon!”, one has to smile at the gullibility.

There’s a bargain-basement version of this for sale in San Leon, Texas. Built by Dusty Hill, who has gone on ahead. It needs urgent remodeling, but I watched it being built. The view is spectacular.
Be advised: San Leon is a scrappy little drinking town with a fishing problem. Occasionally a hurricane will scour the land point where it lies.
