Something Wonderful: The Tables

“You don’t get no cheap shots off that metal net.”

The Tables from Jon Bunning on Vimeo.  The Tables is a short documentary about the ping pong tables in NYC’s Bryant Park and the cast of characters who play there frequently — homeless folks, pro players, bike messengers, and a guy who uses a block of wood for a paddle.

I think what Mr. Bunning is telling us is that if we can find something silly and joyful to share with another human being, with whom we otherwise have no logical connection, we can discover brotherhood, peace and compassion.

Back in the day, at City Park in Denver, I lived to play 1 wall handball. Small court and a wicked fast game-loved it. Saturdays were doubles and winners stayed on the court. There were 15+ teams waiting to play on the main court(there were 4) Good times.
