Gerard, I notice that you’re working hard too, by posting all this fun stuff. You’re giving us a great selection of stuff to seriously think about without posting gloom & doom, or pointless rants as well.
Your efforts are noted, and appreciated. Keep it up. AD is the best site on the web, bar none.
I can almost remember the smell of a giant leaf pile, fun.

Out here in the great Northwet, once the leaves start falling, the rains have already come. You can’t get a pile that sounds like that.
This video is definitely going to be queued up and waiting for my kids when they come down for breakfast tomorrow.

Yes I can smell that pile. Even more, I still smell the piles of leaves being burnt every Fall. Anybody remember that? You’d see piles maybe five times as the one in the video, in gutters and alleys all over town, beyond dry, set alight with a match and tended by a kid with a rake. It’s what football season smelled like, and Halloween.
That fellow better be careful never to rake leaves around anything solid…

Wonderful happy creature with a most eloquent tail.
I envy her owners, but people who put costumes on dogs should be neutered. Publicly.

In honor of Miss Olive: a reminder that teh kittehs (singly or in pairs) enjoy jumping in and around autumn leaves as much as dogs do; also playing with windblown leaves. The black cats might be Miss Olive’s cousins– but I doubt there are enough leaves in Chico for Gerard to make a proper leaf pile for his Editor.
Totally ridiculous doggy fun. Why can’t we all be more like Stella?

Who’s the good girl? Someone had to say it.

Your decision to give us a little bit of joy and beauty every day is helping to ease the terrible pain we are all feeling. It helps to ease the rage. Thank you!
Agree, life is for fun stuff’. While I’m watch this family dog, I’m listening to Ten Years After, ” 1970 Live at Fillmore East” . Thru stacked Klipsch Cornwalls. Trying hard to,wash these BS politics from my head.
Better than Disney and cheaper, after that a fire and hotdogs for everyone including Stella. Joy is to be taken whenever and wherever. Ghostsniper, a comment please.

Who Am I? by Carl Sandburg
My head knocks against the stars.
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I reach my hands and play with pebbles of destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs reading “Keep Off.”
My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive in the universe.
Duty, Beauty, Liberty, Country, Honor, Family, Faith — Plus a few simple easy to follow rules for guys
Men saw the stars at the edge of the sea
They thought great thoughts about liberty
Poets wrote down words that did fit
Writers wrote books
Thinkers thought about it
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
Many’s the road I have walked upon
Many’s the hour between dusk and dawn
Many’s the time
Many’s the mile
I see it all now
Through the eyes of a child
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
Lost dreams and found dreams
In America
In America
In America
And close your eyes
Leave it all for a while
Leave the world
And your worries behind
You will build on whatever is real
And wake up each day
To a new waking dream
Take it where you find it
Can’t leave it alone
You will find a purpose
To carry it on
Mainly when you find it
Your heart will be strong
About it
[Chorus]
Change, change come over
Change come over
Talkin’ about a change
Change, change
Change come over, now
Change, change, change come over
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I’m gonna walk down the street
Until I see
My shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light
I see my light
See my light
See my shining light

How could anyone watch that and NOT spend the rest of the day (or week) with a huge smile on their face, and a lightened heart?
Awesome stuff, Vanderleun. Just another reason to love this website.
