One Day, I Will Die on Mars

CAT FOOD IS HERE, finally,

and it took all the energy I had not to slam the door in that child’s face after he handed it over. No tip for you. As for Squee, he is feasting. In other news, I have obtained, via serious research, the flush code for my toilet. What’s a few extra dollars in pursuit of an empty tank? And now I can recline in contemplation, friends—or rather I could if my sofa would arrive, which doubtless, someday, it will.

Your Say

I was out running errands, in the line at Walmart for meds. Behind me comes this guy, looked like he was on a Polack bowling team. Mid-forties, wouldn't know matching colors if it bit him in the butt.
"Whassatcha got?" He asks, pointing to the cafe curtain rod I'm holding.
I spoke not a word, showed him.
"Oh" he sez, "thought it was one a them canes. My buddy has one with four feet".
"Yes, when we get older we lose equilibrium." I said (my mistake).
"Oh" he sez, "I lost my equilibrium when I had that aneurism, back in '97."
"You're lucky to be alive" sez I.
"I dunno, I'm waiting for them to come get me. Y'know, go up into space".
"I'm five foot ten." I said with finality, "you won't need any money up there."
He nodded sagely and I saw behind his eyes he'll be chewing on that for a while.
The art of conversation, one of my strong suits.

So here I am, tragically out of the loop again.
Now it's this Uber thing I don't understand. (rhymes with rubber?) Uber? Wtf is Uber? I just read that the Uber was trying to charge folks huge sums of cash to get them out the hostage zone in Sydney. Now this article with more than a few 'What the hell is she talking about?' passages.
I'll just bet I can live without it.

It's like that Nostradamus guy said, "I have seen the future...and boy, is it dumb!" But it *will* be computerized, parameterized and optimized. Optimized as all hell. Oh yeah.

My idea of progress is keeping everything the same.

If time didn’t go by so fast I wouldn’t dwell so much in the past. — Zippy
